Even in a GT, don't get too cocky.

Haha, first time I was driving my GT w/my sister (she drives my v6 a lot now), ; and I was telling her how fast my 5.0 was; so I'm merging onto traffic on interstate 93 to work, I see a yellow pre 99 mustang. So I was like, don't worry i'll catch up to it.. I get next to it..its WICKED loud..i see it says "COBRA" I was like ah well pre99 cobras aren't THAT fast..I see it, it has a huge engine, and a HUGE supercharger..how do I know ..it was so big, the car didnt even have a HOOD! (I doubt even a Cobra R hood would fit)..needless to say, the car was long gone in about 6 seconds. Ah well,
Gt vert w/the top down in the 80 degree weather was still

Are they now ????? I believe most underrate the 96-98 GT Most of the people I know have replaced the heads and intakes with 99+ and are equally fast. It takes a lot less to make a pre99 GT fast than most other cars. There is 0nly a 35 HP difference which is relatively easy to make up
98 GT 225HP
99 GT 260HP
I laugh every time I see a post like this.

fox 5.0s have no top end are are pretty slow stock (most of them) but are VERY cheap to get pretty darn fast.... my friends 90 lx with heads/intake/cam and gears out back and no cats of course is good for low low 12s

I have been to more races than most of you have been alive and I can tell you 99+ stangs get owned by older stangs period. That is something Rick has also noticed at the track. But in reality it is more about less aftermarket parts for 99+ than the ability of the 4.6

Well taking to consideration that pre99s have been out for quite a few years of course there are more % faster then the 99+ dur their fresh into the scene just like back in the day when teh foxs came out all the parts were $$

BUT around here Id have to say theres about an equal amount across all years that are fast. Not just one solo generation.

That is all :pancake:
