Ticked at Ford.

Alright, I have a major issue with Ford at the moment. I feel like ranting, so I'll do it here. I'm a bit annoyed how the V6 engines in our mustangs seem underpowered. Meanwhile Altimas with 3.5 liter engines create 250 Horse Power, our 3.8 can get about 193 HP. Ford has to up the 4.0 liter to get 200 or 210 whatever the 2005's are going to be. It bugs me a lot... grrr.. yeah that's all. Could anyone help me out or give me some feedback and put my faith back into Ford? A part of me wants to get a camaro for my next car.....

The 3.5L engines are DOHC engines so that's how they get all of their power. And Ford has 2 versions of the mustang, the V6 and the V8. The V8 has been and will always be the front runner for Ford. It's not that Ford doesn't care about the V6, they just want to try to have some definate difference between the V6 and the GT. If you could go and get a 250hp V6 for $18,000, why would you buy a 265hp GT for $23,000? Almost nobody would buy a GT anymore and unless Ford started putting 351's again in the Mustang, GT's would surely be a rarity. But Ford most likely isn't going to use 351 V8's anymore because of new enviromental laws, so you need that into consideration also.

and the fact that the Altima that you are talking about is their top of the line Altimia. Put that Altima against the top of the line Mustang and see who wins

OK Seph. There are two models of the Mustang. ( ) The V6 and GT.

If Ford make a 250 horsepower V6, then why should they waste there time on the GT?

We all have a base model Mustang. You want horsepower...get a GT.

The A/C will turn itself off at WOT, so it wouldn't be blowing much.

The V6 model of the Mustang is marketed towards the younger crowd, mainly highschool or college kids and maybe a first time driver whos parents have a little bit of money. Back in the early 90's, you would see 2 cars the most and these cars were driven by teens. These cars were Escorts and Cavaliers... They were both entry level cars that both dealers came up with to target the younger crowds... The 2 next cars you seen the most of were V6 Mustangs and V6 Camaros... These were geared towards teenagers whos parents had a little bit more cash flow, and didnt want to put a kid behind a lot of horsepower... It would be nice if Ford and other car manufactures would beef up these cars, but thank god for the aftermarket world!

alright I think I understand the concept of a V6 and a V8 back long LONG ago. I'm just saying that if they wanted Ford cars to be less ragged on they should at least make them better. I mean, 4 grand to put a super charger in a V6 to get 278 when you could put alittle bit more money into an Altima and get something a lot faster. The Altima is the mid priced one btw,not the top of the line one.

Well it's more like 3000, but I understand kinda what you mean. I bought the V6 for alot of reasons, but mainly I wanted a challenge, it had to be something American, and I wanted it to be a Mustang, BAD!!! Actually, that's all I really wanted. Anyways, everybody knows the potenial of 5.0s, but not of the 3.8 or 4.2 in my case. For a V6 it's huge, and the aftermarket is kinda there to help support modding the V6 mustang. If you get mad about not having the horsepower, maybe you bought something you really didn't like and acted to quickly. Maybe you could sell or trade for a older 5.0 is hp is what you're really looking for. But until Ford decides to really up the hp on the GT, don't look too hard for the V6 to get that extra hp you're in a dire need for.

I just am upset how the V6's feel so underpowered is all. I don't mind putting the mods on the car to make it faster and all, but knowing other V6's are out there putting Ford's V6 to shame out of the box then meh...

Not all Ford V6s. The Duratec was at 250HP right? DOHC engine.
