what the hell was jba thinking

ordering jba headers for my truck soon...i thought aftermarket headers were supposed to be less restrictive; so whats with all the goofy bends to make them circular

why not make normal looking headers?

umm, i don't know. Maybe the less angled bends are better for flow?

just taking a stab at this one, but maybe its to help equalize the pressure between each cylinder, or maybe like whitestang said, its less of an angle on the bends so its less restrictive.

i guess that it could help equalize the pressure since its not really that big of a motor only like 182ci

yea i think its to make all the tubes equal length so there is the same back pressure on all cylinders

It's equal length. Having equal length headers makes the back pressure even on each cylinder. Only way to achieve equal length is goofy bends like that.

Its all about the back pressure.
Whatever the way the pipes curve is normal. Its just how they design it for back pressure and equal length, and sometimes for fitment.
