Which holds up to your statement that the camaro will be able to hold it's place...and my statement for last place.

I think it'll outsell the challenger in a few years but who knows. I don't need to see one on every corner and realize how many there are. As long as Chevy sells enough to keep them going that is all I really care about.

Also, Britney sells more albums than better singers, just keep that in mind Its the crazy little 16 year old girls who want to buy the Britney CD to be cool... sounds a bit like the mustang, haha.

Let the 16 year olds buy the V6 Mustang. It keeps the V8 around. Maybe one day GMC will learn this

I'm pretty sure they know that by know. Offering 2 V6 options, both with quite a few options, the RS appearance package, and 300hp.

They're just trying to get their foot in a door they closed a long time ago.

Why did V6 mustangs start coming with hood scoops? Daddy's little girl wanted a mustang with the hood scoop and daddy wasn't gonna pay the insurance for a GT. Exactly the same reason you can get the "pony package" nowadays and exactly the reason the Camaro is coming out in two V6 levels.

To be honest, however, I believe it's too little too late. The camaro loyal will be shunned by the pricetag of the SS (too many would have to sell their spots in the trailer park) and would be too embarrassed to say they bought a V6. Even with 300 HP, it's still a V6 at the end of the day.

This thread is ridiculous. Someone should quote Rocket and bring up the 2001 Camaro Z28 again. I don't think he has said for ****'s sake enough yet

I, personally, have nothing against a well put together V6 car. I drove one for 5 years, nothing to be ashamed of.

It's when you get the loyalists who only think something with a roaring V8 is worthy of being driven that will kill the name......again.....

I mean honestly, how many V6 camaros and firebirds do you still see driving around versus V6 mustangs?

Ok...sort of...

If you really wanna talk about a 2002 Camaro, we can and just compare that to a 2008 Mustang.

2008 Mustang GT:
0 to 60 mph: 5.1 seconds
1/4 Mile Time: 13.8 seconds

2002 Camaro SS:0-60 mph: 5.3 seconds
1/4 Mile Time: 13.7 seconds @ 105.6 mph

Sure, the Mustang has really been outperforming the Camaro, way back from 8 years ago and they still are even

So from 1993-2008 is a bit more than a decade. I've got a weird feeling in 2010 it'll be the Camaro on the performance side winning it again. Sure, the Mustang has a great little niche for selling, hopefully the camaro does the same. If you guys were smart you'd hope the camaro would sell well to, because its obvious when you don't have competition, ford doesn't really take their performance to the next level.

And YES, the SS is the Base V8 Platform FOR THE YEAR TWO THOUSAND AND TEN (Thats 2010). There is no Z28 in 2010. There is a LS (V6), LT (V6), and SS (V8). Thats it. So yes, it is comparable to the GT for christ sakes.

2010 Mustang GT Pricing: $30,095
2010 Camaro SS Pricing: $30,995
pretty damn close if you ask me.
You shouldn't have used the 2002 Camaro in your comparison above then....and you should have used the proper mustang to compare it to..or the proper camaro to compare it to. In 2002, the proper comparison for the SS would have been the 2001 Cobra....or 2003 cobra. You should have used the 2002 Z28 to compare to the 2008 GT instead...that would be an apples to apples comparison.

We can't use a car that is vaporware in a comparison with a car that is produced....so you can't compare any 2010 camaros to any mustangs yet.

By the way, has anyone see any races between a stock 02 Z28 and/or a stock 2002 SS against a stock 2005+ GT? I haven't done any searches but it would be interesting to see the results being somewhat close in power.

We're just talking about the mullets that will start appearing here soon. I'll bet they're being grown as we speak.

20 bucks says there will be a camaro with the old school window louvers on the road a month after they come out

Or maybe some people just get annoyed because all you EVER do is troll people.

That and your avatar is ****ing enormous. I thought it was a pic of Rosie O'Donnell at Taco Bell for a second.

EDIT: On second look, your avatar just seems big because your posts are all only a line long. At least your useless posts are succinct. If only we could say the same thing about Thomas...

Well to be fair, I don't own a mustang, I know nothing about mustangs(except they are ugly and slow), and this is a site about....mustangs. I only ever post in the bar or the underground, which are filled with jokes about old people having sex, random "this is funny" youtube videos, football junk, and other equally retarded crap. I'm just stickin' to the theme. I don't even get rude or pile on anyone in particular, I just spout my silly one liners and move on. I don't know why you are all bent out of shape that I'm not serious enough on the internet and just come to relax and chill out with my brosefs, but I guess I'll try harder for you next time to intelligently type out a factual post in the "my car can beat your car up" thread.

(I had a smaller avatar but it was animated and I couldn't use it so i just used the first retarded picture I could find. I'll try to find something more suited to your tastes)

I quoted myself, and bolded what I feel is the important part. BBunt was talking about the 2002, while I was talking about the 2010, so I said sarcastically "If you wanna talk about the 2002 Camaro". Hell, the Z28 still outperformed the GT.

Also. The 2010 Mustang and 2010 Camaro are both not produced yet, that is what I've been trying to compare this whole time. While you've been insisting on comparing a Z28, I have been trying to explain that in 2010 there is no Z28, there is a SS (aka the base model V8 camaro) and that that is the exact rival to the Mustang GT. Taking both these cars which are months away is not that hard to do. They aren't "vaporware" as both have big test mules and numbers released all over the place.

And damn right this thread wont die

the 02 z28 and ss are pretty much the same freaking thing lol... they both run the same basic times etc if optioned right, keep in mind the rear gear options they offered on the camaro's made a big diff in the performance.

The rear gears in the '98-'02 F-Bodies were 2.73 or 3.23 with the autos, and all the 6-speed cars got 3.42s.

Every 6-speed car got 3.42s. There was no option. With the autos, the 3.23s were the performance-axle option. That's what my WS6 had.

Re: We Are Scared!

I think the major downfall of the camaro has always been its appearance since the 4th generation body came out. Their major problem seems to be keeping the general body lines. Even the Challenger still looks similar to the origonal years. The camaro keeps changing drasticly making it hard for anyone to really FOLLOW it. Same with the mustang. Certain body lines and features have stayed throughout the years making it easy to follow and keeping it at a marketable price, weight, and power level makes it easy for anyone to get one and not worry about losing control (as a first time buyer). The 4th generation camaro is hideous and as is the new one. a completely difference body style, and still not very appealing. the last decent looking camaro and the only generation I ever like was the third gen. 88-89 Z28 to be more specific. Another thing GM seems to have issues with is making these things handle. I mean REALLY handle. Theyve always been straight line performers and with the autocross and other things expanding to more popularity the mustang will outrun both chevy and dodge. It may be under-powered to some but I really think its a well balance, well priced car. Even the challenger was labeled as "handleing well for what it is", and please dont get me started on the so called "charger" its a discrace to the name. Its a 300C with a more aggressive body kit. Yeah the powers there but the body is an extreme dissapointment to me. I give chevy props for their motors. Dodge for well...they used to have some nice looking cars, but ford seems to be able to keep the overall balance, keeping them alive in the market no matter how much they may struggle.

1.) You say that the camaro is always a completely different body style. The 5th generation is a retro design, and if you can't see the similarities between a 2010 and a 1967-69 Camaro then I don't know what is wrong with you...

2.) Handling was brought up a while back in the thread. GM has quite a good grasp of handling the past few years and I'm willing to bet it'll do just fine around corners. Something tells me weeks of testing at the Nurburgring will help things like that

3.) Do I need to show you a picture of a 70's Mustang II, next to a 70's Camaro? I'm pretty sure we all know which one is more hideous looking, the mustang. The camaro went for a eurosport feel and did pretty well with it, even in the gas crisis.

All these "problems" you listed are essentially solved this generation but it really is up to the buyers as to whether it sells or not.

I always thought the 93-97 models looked more like doorstops than the 98-02 models did. Not that I'm a big fan of either one.
