My bike stolen 1/9/09

in Atlanta, at Georgia Tech.

Stolen from the North Avenue Apartments gated parking garage.

for you locals who might see it:
2001 blue ninja zx6r, chrome decals, rearset adjusters, zero gravity dark tinted windscreen, right bulb does not illuminate for braking or signaling but does for the driving lights. The left side has a lightly scratched fairing that was covered in blue spraypaint that didnt quite match (small spot). Micron pipe that is blue and fades to yellow etc. Top of left mirror is nice and scratched. The tach glass is cracked on the gauge in an A shape (without the horizontal bar). It has black gp footpegs that have the ends of them scraped (left more than right). I cut the bottom of the front sprocket cover to make room for gp shift, and that's how it's set up. oh yea, and it has a small dent in the left side of the tank. Also has a gold scotts steering damper.

Sucks to work your *** off for something and have some lazy ****bag take it from you.

In memory: (the bike is now in street form, not track)

makes me wish i would have rode the piss out of her, that last night we were together..knowing she'd be gone in the morning.

That's really ****ty. I'm sorry to hear that. I agree that you should keep an eye out for parts being sold online, because that's probably what's going to happen to it.

Re: My bike stolen 1/9/09

thanks a lot everybody, for the help/support.

thankfully i had comp coverage, so if it doesnt show up soon, i'll be getting a check from the ins company (and probably paying higher rates!). I doubt i'll get what it was worth, but who knows.. i'm mostly looking for a strictly race bike to replace it right now, but i wont be buying anything for a while...

the cops didnt say much...just what you'd expect. Gave me the case # and said they'll let me know if it's found etc..

it's a ****ty feeling.

Re: My bike stolen 1/9/09

about a year and 7 months.

track experience has a multiplier of about 1000 over street experience imo with regard to learning how to corner and be fast on a bike. At most any trackday, the org will divide the riders into 3 groups; novice, intermediate, and expert based on lap times. I'm expert at Jennings and Barber. Those are the only 2 tracks i've been on so far. I need to hit little talladega and nashville this summer. maybe even VIR or CMP. anyway, you should definitely sign up for a trackday zim, they are WAAAAAY more fun than street riding. But i warn you, it's addicting.

Re: My bike stolen 1/9/09

not yet. i dont have a truck and i dont have a good place to keep it here unless i want to stick it back in the parking garage where it was stolen from...with an already hacked ignition. i'm going to take it back to my house in chattanooga so i can get the insurance $$$ and repair the damage. probably will be tomorrow or monday before i have time to get a truck and do that.

Re: My bike stolen 1/9/09

**UPDATE**

thanks again everyone.

just picked up the bike and the police report today. Turns out a police officer pulled over a truck with no visible tags and happened to notice the ignition was gone on the motorcycle in the back of the truck. So after he got the driver's info he copied down the VIN of the bike as he went back to his car. Ran it and found it was stolen. A girl was driving the truck and another girl and a guy were passengers. The guy admitted he was the one who was transporting the bike and that the girls had no connection to it. He also admitted the name and address of the guy he was taking it to, and he said that guy had lots of motorcycles in his basement. I dont know if the police are pursuing that lead any further, but i hope they are. Hell, some of the other bikes posted in this section could be there.

The damage ...

both the gas tank keyhole and the passenger seat keyhole are jacked

bent linkage

overall the damage doesn't seem to be horrible, but it will definitely be some repair work. also, in this picture you can see the garage from which it was stolen (on the left side of the pic).

and i got a free helmet...kinda scratched and gross, but...at least i got the scumbags lid.

sucks that my deductible is $500...

oh yea, and get this: the guys name is Franklin Delano Cartledge. i guess he was named after Roosevelt.
681 Flint River Road
Jonesboro, GA
6'3" 185lb 28 yr old white male

he said the guy who he was taking the bike to was:
Harris who lives on Delowe Dr.

Well there still right about him being a ******: he fits the definition in websters dictionary

What i dont get is, how are you gonna play innocent and say your transporting a bike for some guy who has alot of bikes that are probably stolen in his basement. If he has alot of bikes that are probably stolen then your probably transporting a stolen bike.
