The problem with this could be either your speakers have come unplugged so just replug them or you have a bad soundcard or the drivers for the sound card need to be updated also what could be wrong is if it is a motherboard that has onboard sound it is a sign that either that part of the motherboard is bad or a sign showing that you need to have a new board

With any computer problem you should first make sure something didnt come unplugged. If everything is plugged up and you still have a prob, try rebooting and see if that fixes the prob... If that doesnt help, post again and I am sure one of us can help you figure it out!

ouch a new gateway i am really sorry. everyone i know hates gateways and dells. if at all me and fishersstang could build you one for a very low price. the best thing to do is actually build one because instead of buying another name brand computer when it goes bad just upgrade that part in the one that is built. it saves you lots of money. trust me i know i built mine and fishersstangs and we love them. they really work well playing doom 3 as well and any other game

if you are wanting a good computer that is for stuff like that then it would not be expensive at all. For that only the price would be about 300-400 bucks course if you download a lot of songs then you would like to have a big hard drive such as maybe a 200 gig. But as long as you have the monitor and some other stuff that can be used on one that is built that is where you will save some money in builing a computer.

I'm looking to buy a new computer as well. Top of the line, gaming/multimedia machine. A speed demon, and something I won't have to upgrade in a long damn time. I was at first thinking about Dell because the one I have now is a Dell, I've had it for 4 years but I've upgraded it all I could.

So I went on Dell's website and I see all their desktops are sold with crappy PCI slots and no AGP..... I was baffled, confused, then angered...

I decided to look at the people at www.ibuypower.com they have some pretty awsome combinations of goodies you could do to rice out your computer and all. I emailed them asking a couple questions on their cases, but it's already been a week and a half since I sent it. That shows bad customer service to me, so I'm bailing out of that decision to shop with them.

So I think I know where I stand now. I'll be purchasing something from Alienware. Computer will cost around $2400... Lotta money eh gang? This is just the tower, no monitor, no speakers, no mouse, and no keyboard. I know Alienware has expensive computers, but all their stuff is name brand good stuff.

A few of my friends said they could built it up for me if I gave them the parts. The only problem I've had with this so far is, everytime I need to talk to them about something they are never around to answer my questions until a couple days to a week later. This would be the cheapest, and a lot of people will say the best way to go.. but considering I don't have any friends who can do it to my exact liking and all.. I think I'll go with Alienware and have a 1 year customer support through them instead of trying to reach a friend if something goes wrong.

Look at sager, it's the same exact thing as alienware. My room mate got a sager, then built the same exact laptop on alienware's website and it was 1000 more...

Dont go buying anything from anyone unless you know what you are doing because you can look on alienwares website and buy a case to your liking and still get off cheaper than what you would be buying one already built. when you are buying an alienware or whatever computer you are pretty much buying there name and they would own you. so what i would do is give me a price range you are looking at and i can get you a list of prices.
