Should have been McCain in 2000. Then I'd have voted republican (instead of not at all).

I saw it, well I saw Rudy's speach and really enjoyed it. I loved the way he poked fun at Kerry and Edwards, and I say Rudy in 08!

And you know that Moore was there to do columns for USA Today! (now there's one publication that won't be able to claim they don't lean left)

I agree i wish he had a different view on gun control.

I saw Rudy's speech last night and was dying laughin at his jokes about Kerry and Edwards. Esp the part about edwards wanting 2 americas one where Kerry can be for something and one where he can be against it.

I watched both days. Missed bits and pieces. Missed Ron Silver's speech because my daughter was reading to me and I missed some of the second day's stuff cause my other daughter wanted me to help her with her violin practice.

Rudy was great, I have more respect for McCain, even though I was lukewarm towards him when I live in AZ. Arnold was awesome. Mrs. Bush has always had my respect, she is a fine lady. Even the Bush girls were ok, allowing for youth and nervousness.

I was worried about '08 myself. Here's my thinking. Historically, the leading candidate for the nomination would be the sitting VP, assuming the President isn't running, like Bush won't be in '08. Now Cheney has said he's not running for any office after this term, which means he won't be bringing the bonus of an incumbent to the Presidential campaign. I'm not sure how I feel about Cheney, he's a bit of an enigma to me and no I don't believe the socialist crap on the internet about him.

So... I wanted someone to replace Cheney this time around so that person could run for President in '08. After watching the speeches at the convention I now look forward to the '08 primaries and watching some great politics. This will probably be the best primaries since the ones in 1976, when I first started paying attention to them.

You'd think with all of those 4 and a half months in Vietnam he'd of learned how to do a salute.

Oh yes, a squid knows how to salute. maybe he's looking for votes, or more likely if it's time to flip, or is it flop this time?

i've noticed a lot of ppl, occasionally bush included, will do an improper salute. But, more often than not, Bush will usually make a point to make the salute a good one. Least it appears that way to me. He usually speaks to the soldier saluting him as well.

The Kerry pic is him "saluting" the guys at the American Legion. Hmm, half-assed saluting in front of a bunch of vets who know a half assed salute when they see one.

Kerry is still disrespecting the vets and doesn't even realize it. Well I assume it isn't deliberate.

Steve

PS: Zell Miller in '08! Kerry is walking funny from the butt chewing Zell just gave him.

New York City Firefighters To Endorse Bush

Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) -- The union representing New York's City's 8-thousand-600 firefighters will endorse President Bush tonight at a social club in Elmhurst, Queens.

Uniformed Firefighters Association president Steve Cassidy said he'll announce the union's endorsement as he stands beside Bush at the Italian Charities of America hall. Cassidy and Bush will share a meal of pizza and sodas with about 100 firefighters and watch Vice President Dick Cheney's address to the Republican National Convention.

The U-F-A's endorsement is loaded with symbolism. The Fire Department of New York lost 343 members on September 11th. An enduring image of the aftermath of the tragedy is footage of Bush with his arm around a firefighter at ground zero addressing rescue workers through a bullhorn.

The union, which has traditionally backed both Republicans and Democrats in local and state elections, did not make an endorsement in the 2000 presidential race.

This year, the Bush campaign has been working to evoke Bush's response to the attacks without opening the campaign to criticism that it is exploiting a tragedy for political ends.

Bush is scheduled to arrive in New York today and address the convention tomorrow night. A Republican Party source, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said Bush would also visit two firehouses tonight.

The International Association of Fire Fighters has endorsed Democratic Senator John Kerry, along with the union representing the city's 2-thousand-900 fire lieutenants, captains and other officers.
