What is a good brand of radar detectors. around how much do they sell for and where?

I used to have an Escort 8500. It worked really well for a few years. Sold it on eBay 'cause I can't have a detector on base.

i mean for people to tell me about past expiriences with the detectors i could go to google and a company site but all im gonna hear from every site is that there product is the greatest. so if you dont have any real advice on radar detectors dont post anything

Recent test I have seen put Bel at the top of the Radar detector heap here is one of the test sites but in all fairness Bel and Escort are one and the same now. The originator of Bel is now the owner of Valentine1

Anecdotal advice is nice, but it's hardly accurate.

Scientific reviews put the data out for you to see and compare.

My favorite radar detector is the guy in front of me. I let him find the radar traps and I cruise thru.

I have always stuck with Cobra myself. The XRS-9700 is a nice one, pretty good prices on ebay for them too.

As for best radars Ive always had my V1 and its done nothing but wonders for me. But seeing as you only wanna spend 170 thats out your price range

Look into cobra i think the 99 or 89 model i believe (some **** close to that) thats it is pretty straight
