I need Chemistry help...and fast.

We have to do human electron model for my chemisty class. ( ) The element is nitrogen. 7 electrons. 1s, 2s, and 3p path. And well, none of us know how to do this damn orbital path. I barely understand it.

Can anyone help me out? Please.

7 electrons, 1s^2, 2s^2, 2p^3 ... the ^ means put it in the exponent place

get a notecard, turn it over, turn it to where it is taller than wide, write 1s in lower right hand, go up a little, write 1s 2s, etc...easiest thing to ever do, if I can find mine around here from my last college chemistry class i'll scan her in for ya, easiest way to learn it

you should add me to AIM, and I can just help you out there, but I have to go to sleep now.... actually 40 minutes ago... as I have to get up at 6 am, and it's almost 11. jimmy52659 is my AIM. I prefer MSN or yahoo, which are both jimmy_beaner, but I don't know if you have those.

ok, the first number stands for the orbital level, like the first orbital can only be an s, which can only hold 2 electrons, the second can be s or p, s holds 2, p holds 6, then, they're arranged by energy level, s's are lower in energy than p, so s comes first, 1s2, 2 electrons in the first energy level, this level is then full, so you have to go to 2s2, this orbital is full, so you have to go to the p orbital, you have 3 electrons left, 2p3, the exponent stands for the number of electrons, d orbitals come in the 3rd layer and hold 10, f orbitals hold 14, but you don't have to worry about that yet, so your answer is 1s2, 2s2, 2p3, the numbers after the letter are small and up, an exponent, that's just how science writes them.

a shell is a group of orbitals, an orbital is a ''system'' of closed electrons. The electrons can't jump orbitals or shells without external energy applied. Basically, you have a basketball, it's a nucleus, you put a bag around it, that's the first layer, can hold a total of 2 electrons, the next bag can hold 8 total.... and so on.. nitrogen has 7, so 1s2, 2s2, 2p3, 2 and 2 and 3 is 7, problem done

OK. Let me get this straight.

1s - 2 electrons (2 people)
2s - 2 electrons (2 people)
2p - 3 electrons (3 people)

OK. We have to illustrate their path in the class. I understand that 1s is just away from the nucleus and one runs left to right and the other goes up and down.

I also understand that the second one does the same thing just further away.

It's the third one I can't figure out. I know it makes a teardrop shape instead of a sphere shape.

We also have to do another part. But let's get this done right now.
