98 GT vs. 04' V6

Yesterday I raced a 98 GT that had intake, exhaust, and lsd. We did straight drag and he did beat me. Although At the end of the 1/4 mile he was only 1 car length ahead. Seems pretty weird or my car is better than I thought it was. Does that sound right?

O ok, but yeh, they don't have as much power as new style. I'm surprised you kept up that well with a 98 though

yea, I had a pretty good launch and I talked to the guy afterward and he had no excuses, so maybe it was just my night.

the pre 99 GT's have 225 hp which translates to maybe 190-200 at the wheels. 99+ v6 has like 200hp which translates to 170-180 at the wheels. so were talking a 20hp difference, then add the weight difference between the 6 and 8.

you did well my son. do some mods to your car and you couldve eaten him for dinner.

I can't wait to see what the '05 V6 does when racing a stock '96-'98 GT.

I'd say go with the shift kit, then get 8.8 rear with gears and chip, that'll all have to happen at one time. Or..you could just go UDP to make yourself feel better for a lil while lol

OHHHHH 8.8 rear end will be the best bang for the buck if you have a manual you only need a dallas speedcal if you have an auto you will need a chip so this may sway you, if not that get a udp.
