Re: Thank You! No delay on Digital TV Switch

meh, they've only been going on about this crap for 20 years now, why the hell do they think a three month delay is going to help any.

the only part of that article that sucks is the part that says some rural areas that aren't serviced with digital signal are SOL, which I can relate to because I lived out in the sticks in my early 20s and we only had dial up internet woot. But I guess we did have satellite tv while I was there so who knows, its not like 3 months is suddenly going to convince the cable companies to expand their coverage to the boonies

Re: Thank You! No delay on Digital TV Switch

Maybe its just Comcast but I dont really see how digital is "better". Random pixilations of the shows and random area "blackouts" where some services drop for no reason for long periods of time. Not to mention losing some if not all signal during crappy weather, but thats usually more dish TV services. I happen to like my two channels from my antenna. Since I was let go from my job I cant afford any of it.

Re: Thank You! No delay on Digital TV Switch

Some of the channels on comcast are still analog. Only the higher numbers (if you have a box and subscribe to digital package) are actually digital.

Yeah, the point of this is to free up wave frequencies for emergency use and what not.

They have been telling people that the change is happening in February for over a year. If you can't get your **** together in a 1yr then you deserve to not have any TV at all... just my 2 cents

didnt know that. guess ill have to do more research. Actually Ive only been un-employed since mid Nov. Assuming the last statement was directed towards my post. I was just curious about the whole digital thing and their reasoning behind it being "better".

Digital has much much more bandwidth. The reason the government wants to free up the analog is for the reason PureVenom stated. Plus some of the analog wireless spectrum will be used by companies for wifi.

Re: Thank You! No delay on Digital TV Switch

Emergency reasons?? Not a chance. That airspace is almost totally sold already. Billions of dollars changed hands just to get the FCC to free up the space and billions more to buy up all that wonderful unused bandwith. Of course noone has any programming to fill it but they have it. Oh and Clowncast bwahahahahahahahahahaha, get a dish.
