Honda S2000

I know a lot of you guys aren't into Hondas or anything, I don't have any interest in them really either, but tonight I rode in a S2000 and I loved it. Those cars are nice. What do you guys think of them?

Since we're on imports in this thread, my cousin just bought a brand new Mazda RX-8. it's beautiful, the color is awesome. Winning Blue he said.

It's decently quick. Faster than mine, but that doesn't mean anything.

always reminds me of that SRT-4 vid someone made when a S2000 owner made a vid of how fast his car could get to 60 (he says 70, but the asshat only goes to 60, the needle doesn't lie) and a member of the SRT-4 group shows how fast they could go and it kicks it's *** pretty much. Remember anyone? VTECH!

they are great cars and to be able to get 240bhp out of a 2.0L N/A is amazing. The only problem with them is that they have a really high compression ratio and breathe really well. Therefore slapping on an intake and full catback exhaust nets you about 5whp combined. Not to mention the weight. Seeing as they are rwd cars, if you in the powerband and take a corner, hopefully no one is in any of the lanes next to you. you WILL fishtail and possibly even spin if you are in vtec. Once you learn how to handle the car, it does handle like a large go-kart, but it can still get out of control easily.

That being said, the sound of 9k rpms is amazing. The push-button ignition, the digital tach and speedo is nice, as well as the 6spd gearbox.

bottom line, like Zim said, w/o vtec, it has no tq. it has virtually no hp either. For a daily driver, it is not your best choice as you have very little hp until 5500rpms.

umm no not the s2k. most HP per Liter award goes to the rx7 rotary. 1.3 litres putting out 200hp or so(i forget the stock output).

and s2k's are weak. i remember when my freind and i test drove one he thought it was the fastest thing in the world. i was like "umm dude, my eclipse is faster than that and doesnt cost 30 grand" which was later proven when i raced a red one and won by a car. the only good thing is RWD but you have to have it at higher rpm's to get the tires loose. with a high compression, most guys around here who have them dont know what to do with them, you cant turbo a car with 12:1 cr, so most of them are stock with bolt ons. they are nice cars though, but for 30 grand id rather get soemthing else like a RSX-S or a new GT.

I can't live without torque.. even if the car is slow, it's gotta at least have some torque behind it.. 'else I won't enjoy it

I tried sitting in an S2000 though.. hah.. that went well

I was beginning to think they'd need the jaws of life to get me out

My best friends dad has one, and I have rode in it many times and really enjoy it, For a daily driver with a little go its a nice car and is very comfortable and I think worth the 30k if you buy it for what it is, a comfortable, quick rear wheel drive 2 seater vert that looks nice and has decent gas milage for a daily driver.

no, it is the most powerful N/A mass production engine. 2.0L with 250bhp when it first came out. I don't think the rx7 was a 1.3L

yes, the very first year they were out (2000 i think) it was a 2.0L with 250bhp. they have since lowered it to 240bhp out of a 2.0L. the 04s are a 2.2L with the same 240bhp, but it the extra 0.2L gives about 10% more torque off the K22 engine. That is why they increased the displacement

Are you out of your mind? rotary engines can last an extremely long time if you take care of them. If you drag the thing daily and redline every gear, yes its gonna die real fast, but when taken care of and driven right, rotary's get really good gas milage and they last n extremely long time they have about 6 moving parts.

yes the rx7 rotaries main weakness is a thing called their apex seals.

the new renesis rotaries in the rx8 are excellent daily driver and will be high mileage engines. too bad they werent designed with boost in mind.

i love all this talk about power, everyone complains and whines "it has no torque" "has no power" "my car is faster", only one person mentioned handling

S2000's were not meant to run in the 1/4 mile, if they were, Honda would VTEC a V8, have a solid axle rear, and bla bla bla, they were built to handle, built to be quick, hang turns, and still be a managable daily driver

from that video, doesnt look like they handle too well either...

it is kinda funny how a lot of people sit and bag on imports, but also think they know enough to talk bout them... we desire american cars, mainly mustangs or ford cars and trucks... they want imports, they mod them like we do and they have fun in them...

the s2000 is good for what it is, a sporty corner carver. It's not a break your neck from a stop to launch type of car and not meant to be. They handle great but I can smoke one from a stop given proper traction.

And who cares about hp to litre? hp to weight is much more useful
