I have a 83 gt and I'm talking to a guy about buying a 351w from a I believe 73 or 75 mach1. My question is: since it is coming from another mustang, will I still have to get a new oil pan etc.?

Possoblly but more importantlly its the wrong yr engine to be looking at unless ur only going n/a 500hp or less if ur going blown app u want an older block a dart block or a boss block 73 i think was the first yr of the "less desirable" 351w engines 69 engine code c9 was the strongest 351w block yr and i think 72 (d2) or 73 (d3) was the last yr of the good block i just cant remeber if its 72 or 73 anyone else gunna help out on this one?

I don't think there was a 351W in any 75 Mustangs. 74-78 were the Mustang II's.

In my experience most 73 Mustangs used the 351C, at least that's what I had in my 73 Mach I.
Be sure of what you are buying before you commit.

Yes you will probably need a new oil pan.
Most of the older Mustangs used a front sump pan which will not work with the 83 GT.
