I posted this on facebook yesterday. This will not happen. It's like the gun "issue", talked about, and will not happen. If it does, people will rebel.

...This will not happen...
I can just see it now, Raxiom making complete fully programmable ECU replacements. The OEMs could get locked out and the aftermarket warranty companies becoming more like health insurance for your cars. AHHHH!!!!!

The aftermarket carts industry will get lawyers on it. Plus, in reality the car makers are in pretty tight with aftermarket part companies. wont happen

People will be swapping to carbs and running without the ECU or companies will come out with full aftermarket control units. Not to mention anything made before XYZ date will be grandfathered.

This will never happen though, I mean how could you even enforce it? I mean I guess it COULD happen when self drive vehicles finally become a reality and anything that is self driving is going to have to run a "pre flight" of sorts on itself before it gets going but even that will be hacked I'm sure.

Eh, this whole country is run by an aristocracy of business owners, political families and you either suck the right crank enough times to get picked up by one of them and into a party where you might advance or you make enough money somehow where they have to let you into the club. The rest of us go along for the ride and get told our 1 vote in 300 million counts for something in a 2 party pay to play system.

All that said, I've been all over the world, there are VERY few places I would even consider living in before the USA. There are some places I've been where if you called it a ****hole, you'd be complimenting it...

They tried this **** with smartphones already, it almost passed. People loading custom ROMs and rooting/jailbreaking phones were pissing off the manufacturers/carriers enough where there was an actual court case. Court thankfully ruled that if you bought the phone, its yours. Good for me, I don't want to get spammed by adware every time I click on something which is the primary reason I root all my devices. Install ad-free android by BigTinCan and a tethering program and G2G.

I'm actually all for self driving PROVIDED it is not made mandatory. Or at least make people actually pass a legit ****ing test to drive a 3000-7000lb piece of hurtling metal down a road at 80mph for those who want drive manually.

Call me a socialist, I live in NJ and I will go against anyone anyday who tells me more than 50% of people in this state should not be on the road. People who move here from out of state will tell you about the culture shock of driving here. You are doing the speed limit, you are getting run off the road and flipped off. Blinkers are merely a suggestion and if you leave the correct 2 lengths following distance that is an invitation to be cut off. Yeah...

edit: Oh and if you are on a motorcycle you might as well be invisible in NJ.
