This project turned out to be a nightmare :( the lower passenger mid pipe to header bolt was a pain in the @$$ to get to and when I did it was so stuck on that it started rounding off

same here, I ended up whit a soured shoulder by holding the stock pipe wile unbolting it, and had to make my own gasket for that pass side flange
Hell I couldn't even get past that one stupid nut after 3 days and over 10 hours of trying different ways to get at it and I'm about to break down and pay someone to do it

On mine it was easiest to remove the oxygen sensor then use a series of swivels and extensions to get to it. The nice thing is once the stock h pipe is gone all of those bolts are much easier to get to.

I tried that but the bolt started rounding off and I got the craftsman damaged nut/bolt remover kit and nothing with that either, it actually kinda made the situation worse :(

Just changed mine this past Saturday and it sucked. Had to get a deep well socket and cut it with a hacksaw just enough so I could fit a swivel joint in there. Finally got it and had to buy more replacement nuts for the header because they were a bit rounded.

hey guys,
man! i was thinking about doing mine myself, and heard the same thing about that friggin p.s. header flange.:bad: God, your scaring me... think i might just pay someone to do mine.

and yes, also saw repeatedly(even from manu's) that the p.s. flange gasket is kind of needed.

hope you all managed to get it done!!!

Well I would say man it doesn't hurt to try but I'm going to have to get someone to do mine because I've absolutely tried everything and I don't want to completely strip the nut

ya know, i dont know if i should even go through with it cause i have to get car inspected every year(in NY). i imagine the tuner or mil elim's would help, (or i could just register in FL) but don't feel like going through THAT hassle changing pipe every year just for a state insp!

These cars are not easy to change the exhaust mid pipe. If you have patients on the passenger side it can be done easily. If you get in a hurry with these bolts you will end up damaging these bolts and a 1hr job turns into a weekend long ordeal. It sucks when that happens, my first time doing this job I did the same thing. I had to hack saw along the side of the bolt through the fender weld and it finally broke free. I know it sounds crazy but it worked. I hate it for you man and hope you get to put on the pro chamber exhaust. Even though it was a horrible disaster it was totally worth it and all the looks my car got!

so all ended up good!:headbang:

seriously i'm going to pull car up on ramps later today and just take another look and maybe attempt to see if i can actually got at those buggers.

otherwise will call dealer(they actually install aftermarket parts bought elsewhere!) and a couple local shops for an install quote.

btw, any of you guys used or know someone that likes dynomax or mac cat backs(i know the prochamber mid pipe is the cat's meow!). was wondering about their rep. as most everybody uses flows or magna/borla/slp etc

Here is a tip....Craigslist! I bought a set of htc coated (similar to ceramic) Hedman Tork-step LT headers for $200. They were still in the box and had never been installed because the guy didnt realize the work involved when he purchased them. They sat in his garage for a year and he just wanted rid of them. They are right at $800 brand new. I put my whole exhaust together off craigslist (LT's, O/R Prochamber, flow 40 catback, and 3.5" polished tips) for $500. All the parts were like new and in great shape. The key is to ask lots of questions and get lots of pics.
