Basic Stereo Upgrade Help

Hi guys. I am not too experienced with audio systems and such. I need some help with upgrading the system. I only have the basic system which consists of 4 speakers and the single CD HU. I have already put in a Kenwood DD HU. This helped the speakers but it has absolutely no Bass what so ever.

I need some bump but not so much that the car shakes.
Basically I am thinking of two options:

Upgrade all 4 speakers and add a 4-channel amp
Or
Upgrade all 4 speakers and add a sub (mono amp and no amp for speakers)

Cost is the biggest factor. I wanna stay less than 500. Again Im not looking for super booming bass, just some that is equivalent to a Shaker system. If I do add a sub it would be no more than a single 10. Im leaning more towards the speaker amp just because I drag race and do not wanna put too much weight in it. The problem is with the speaker amp is that I will have to run wires all over which is a PIA.

What are your suggestions?

Thx

Any thing amped your going to have to run wires. It's not that bad, just a power wire, remote wire and RCA's. If your looking for something to round out the base you might want to look at a powered enclosure it's a lighter option and it's much more lower profile than a box speaker and amp. Won't rattle the car but it will fill out the sound.

What would be your suggestion for a powered enclosure?

Any opinion on the Kicker PT10?

I'd suggest a 4 channel amp or even a 5 channel if you really want a sub. that way you get all 4 speakers hooked up but still have power for a sub. and it being a 10 inch sub wouldn't need much power at all. that'd be the most efficient way to have louder and clearer sound from your speakers And get a sub And not have a lot of wires running, And be pretty light...

Would still be heaver than a powered enclosure.

Nothing wrong with kicker, but the usual upgrade rout is head unit then 4 channel amp or/and speakers then sub.

I have a crutch pounder amp and a single 12" JL sealed box. I still have My original head unit but I have a separate bass control switch-type-thing for my sub. more that enough bass, definitely nicer than the shaker system. My current stock speakers aren't amped but I plan on doing that soon. Everything included it was under $400. Plus I still have plenty of trunk space!

You will notice a huge differance when u add a sub over new speakers.... I wouldnt worry to much about over powering the speakers when you add the sub because you can always tune the system... You really just need the sub producing the bass and speakers for high frequency (vocals)

I just bought a Infinity Baslink at a pawn shop and it bangs. Since my stang is a vert, I needed a little thump for a little trunk. I corner loaded it and puts out nicely. Won't rattle your neighbors windows but rounds out the stereo nice.
