Hey guys my next step is tuning, I'm thinking bama tunes with steeda CAI, saw some cool things at a mustang show today. Anyone have any literature that I can check out. I'm looking for what it does. Pros and cons. Wait times on tunes and difficulty. Thanks in advance. I want to know everything about it before it goes on my stang.

I use Diablosport Preditor on my other (wife's) car. I have had absolutely NO problem with it all. But on my Mustang, I use SCT.:headbang:

Personally, and I would keep my distance from the SCT. There's plenty of anecdotal information from the other Mustang forums that these programmers are problematic. Tunes are crashing leaving some folks stranded (ask me how I know) and some of their firmware updates are wiping the data from the programmers. And don't expect SCT to provide the same level of service as Bama and Steeda, because they don't. Getting through to SCT is next to impossible, and hang times waiting for a representative are lengthy. Also, you NEVER see SCT weigh-in on the Mustang forums. Customer service is not their priority. As for me, I need jumper cables to another vehicle to ensure the SCT won't crash while loading a tune. Be warned: don't do a firmware update unless your tunes are backed up. Also, Steeda and Bama can't help you if your tunes crash--they'll refer you to SCT. If you're SOL and have to get in touch with SCT to get your car running again, ask Steeda, Bama, or whomever authored your tunes to give you SCT's toll-free number. I'm still waiting for a response to an email that I sent to SCT over a week ago.

Feel free to check threads in other forums to corroborate what I've said.

Why in earth would you drive around on anything other than a race tune? The car has too many nannies as it is, why hold it back?

Agreed. I pretty happy with my Bama tune, but in all honesty, the 93 race tune is the only one worth running. I doubt nothing else actually provides gains (most likely just throttle response).

I agree with "Napoleon85", even though my Tune is Custom, it performs much like the 93 Race Tune.

When i went to the shop to have my car tuned, i made sure to tell him that a need one tune for going to the store, another tune for for coming back and of course one more tune if it rains. I couldnt have stressed enough how different i needed these tunes to be. Wtf, really, i dont get the whole multiple tune thing. And then Bama makes the comment about the race tune saying it may cause you to launch from a stop and/or spin the wheels easily. Ok, who wouldnt want that one?

All true. Ask me how I know about my car getting stranded and having to take time off work since sct has NO night OR weekend hours, just to get my car back on the road.

I guess its a selling point, I'm running BAMA 93 race tune w/ Steeda cai and I guess I'm used to it or the difference wasn't much.... I just drove a bone stock 12 GT automatic today and was actually impressed how peppy it is... an automatic for future purchase is definitely a good possibility cuz that thing was surprisingly torquey!!

I am a newbie. Looking to purchase a tuner very soon. Was starting to get a little discouraged and scared about getting one after reading this thread. However KATO, you have cleared up some concerns. I'm pretty sure I'll be ordering a SCT next week. The only question I have left is, which SCT to get. The SF3, TSX or the X3?

At present, the SCT which I purchased just six weeks ago. Had I done my homework on the forums, I would have gone to the Diablosport. In stark contrast to my experience with the SCT/SF3 programmer, I used a Cobb Accessport programmer on my WRX without any issues.

Skulls, if you're going to get the SCT/SF3 programmer, make sure you buy one with the latest firmware update. Check the SCT website and your vendor to verify this prior to purchase. Keep in mind that if you do this online after purchase, you run the risk of wiping the data from your SCT.
I will do that. Thanks for the heads up.

Im pretty sure all tuners using SCT had the same firmware issues, it's an SCT problem not a bama (or insert tuner name here) problem
This. Bama gets a lot of bad press because they have sold a TON of tunes, and a lot of those customers are new to the mod scene and have no idea what they're doing. They run into a problem and blame the first thing they don't understand...

I agree. It seems that so.many people are happy. Then you have that few that aren't. But as many tunes as they do I wouldn't expect them all to be perfect as they are all hand written.

I mean it is what it is. Bama tunes aren't "racecar tunes" like Lund, aed, etc... But they're great for street cars that see occasional track use and while experimenting with mods.
