I am looking to get a used 2011 v6 manual transmission mustang with the premium package. It has 40k miles and has been driven by the guys wife. I heard a lot on forums about transmission problems with these models and I pose the question, with 40k miles is it safe to say the transmission is fine? Or is it only a matter of time before something goes wrong?
Most of the transmissions are fine. Go test drive it and find out. If you have an issue with it not going into 2nd or grinding, then I'd avoid it. '11 was also the year that people had issues with the flywheel bolts backing out.

You'd be having issues with clutch disengagement. Once again, shifting issues would make it pretty apparent.
