I'm looking get rid of the chrome pony on my grill and the rear fake gas cap. I tried plasti dip on the front pony yesterday with mixed results. First try was real drippy because of the smooth finish on the pony. I tried again us ring multiple light coats and seemed to be successful but I won't know until I get outside to look now that it has dried. I can't help buy think that this would be much easyer with some pre cut black vinyl... I'm also trying to get rid of the rear gas cap or as least black it out, any suggestions?

Pony came out pretty well. I'm going to use nightshade translucent paint on the side markers so they can still be seen when I turn them on. I did the mustang third break light decal a while back and like it so I'm good there. I was looking at the blackout panel but I'm not sure if I like the texture part of it, I'm looking more for the clean painted look... Pictures coming soon

Removing the faux gas cap can be a bit of a pain, but use some paitience, some dental floss, and some plastic bondo type applicators, and they do come off. I removed mine last week to install the blackout panel I bought off of ebay for 50 bucks.

What I'd like to see are custom center pieces that replace the pony or GT on these faux caps. I've seen them for earlier Mustangs, but not many for the '11 and up.

So it's just stuck on there? I thought it was bolted on there or had some kind of connector..?

I love it i want to do mine black and red. So everything you got done was just the gas cap and the emblem?
well the part between the tail lights too. he sanded down the "chrome" part and the aluminum looking part and painted all of that. I went back and he painted the ford lettering white. he finished the stripes the last time I went
