If you go to svtp and all ford mustang forum you will see tons of topic on procal. From my personal experience and my research I will say that one of the biggest issue with procal is pinging. Some have it and some dont, but if you are one of the unlucky one's like myself that get pinging then I will warn you now that there's nothing you will be able to do about it. Ford racing tech's are fully aware of this and they call it "catalyst impingement", which sound a little funny to me lol. No one so far was able to figure out wth ford racing mean by that. Any mechanics and well experienced tuners will clearly tell you that it's knock once they hear it. Another issue I had with procal was excessive drive train clunk while letting off and getting on the gas only in 6th gear while cruising on the highway. Again, this is simply probably the affect of "canned tune" or a one tune for all. Might work for one car but might cause issue for the other. One of the biggest drawback with procal is that they don't offer custom tune for your specific vehicle. Not necessarily for other mods but they should be able to make adjustments until the car operate within specs. Pinging and whatever cause excessive clunks are definitely not OK. Ford racing basically said to live with it or take it off. I took it off and went with diablo in tune and couldn't be happier. 3 times more power and none of those issues procal caused. All I can say is to choose wisely.

A warranty is a warranty, when Ford is in the name. My research said factory warranty is retained.
And you would be wrong. You might want to do some more research......
No, grabber is right. Ford motor company, ford dealerships, and ford racing are all different companies. The factory warranty is dropped and ford racing gives you a 3/36 warranty (I think that's how long it is)
That's exactly right.

It picks up the factory drivetrain warranty and runs until 3/36 from vehicle origination date. As in you can't put the tune on a car with 20k miles expecting a warranty till 56k.

Don't mistake ford racing supported warranty vs ford dealer supported warranty. Ford racing carry the name "ford" but they are an "aftermarket" company just the same as steeda, roush, Brenspeed, etc.. The only way you can have warranty valid from ford racing is if you let a ford dealership do the install, then you have to take that work order and a purchase receipt from where ever you get your procal from and fax everything over to ford racing. As soon as all paperwork are validated via ford racing, they will pick up warranty through 36k miles. As someone have said earlier, the main reason why anyone would get procal is to be warranty paranoia free. The gain won't be too much so don't expect anything spectacular. One thing I did enjoy about procal is low rpm torque. It has plenty of it although I am not so sure if is really 60ft lb of tq at 1500rpm. If you do a search on Google for "mustang procal dyno" you will find a few threads where couple guys have dynoed their car with procal. Overall, procal is really not too bad if you plan to stay with just a tune, but if you get pinging then that might just change everything, unless you like the noise as if your heat shield was crumpling during acceleration.

I got it. You lose the Ford 3/36 and gain the FRPP 3/36 or whatever is remaining if Ford determines the tune caused the issue. Beware of Dealerships refusing to do this mod for you or refuse to file the data to FRPP because you did not buy from them. I bought mine through Buyfordracing. Even though FRPP told me on the phone any Ford or Lincoln dealer can install this upgrade dosen't mean they will. I found a dealer that had no problem installing it and they have two guys assigned to do FRPP type installs, besides they have modified Mustang's of their own.

You are 100% correct. I started out with an extended warranty and I was told installing FRPP was ok. Wrong! Under the ESP (Extended Service Plan) on page 3, para 7c you will see Ford Racing parts spelled out. I made a few phone calls, got a call from the director of financing, filed the cancel paperwork, and got my money back very quickly by dealership standards.

0-60 is all about traction and so a tune isn't going to show you huge gains here no matter what you use.

I picked up a few mph at the track and a few mpg on the street with this tune. It's really fun to drive for sure and with good gas and a few profile relearns, the issue of pinging, isn't, for me, anyway.

You need to compare apples to apples in looking at tunes. This is a 91 octane street tune. Comparing it to a 93 octane race tune isn't fair. I'll stack the Procal against any other street 91 octane tune out there and the warranty support is a big bonus.

Nothing in the warranty docs say you "lose" your PT warranty. What it says is the FRPP picks up the powertrain part of the B2B warranty for the remainder of your 3/36. Not #8 only or some **** but, the whole powertrain, that means engine, trans, rear end. That's as good as it's going to get.

There is no statement about the remains of 5 year regular PT warranty being lost but, we're too close in for anyone to have tested this yet. If the car makes it to 3/36, there's likely nothing warrantable that's going to go wrong unless you break it yourself.

You also don't automatically lose your entire warranty for any powertrain claim. Read the flow chart ... I BELIEVE it enumerates specific types of failures that can be caused by a "bad" tune.

If your water pump goes, you're likely covered regardless of tune unless your dealer sucks. In which case your screwed anyway.

You already have that paperwork, it's in the contract (ESP 8240-NatApp/Provos-(F)-(Oct 11) on pages 4 through 7 starting at item 12 (A), just an FYI here (12 (B) Is Fords right to cancel you). You have to read all the lawyer crud and then search four pages to see if your state has additional items that may modify the original 12 (A) statement. I would call Ford ESP (have your VIN available) since they will answer your questions and you may be able to just file with them. It's fairly straight forward.
