I'm getting ready to order new tires for my stang. They're 275/40/17s
Which is the best tire, Sumitomos or Nittos?

Thanks. I've heard from a few people that was the case with Sumitimos. I have michelins on my car right now, and they're dry rotting on the outside edge too. I definitely don't want tires that are going to do that. Way too much money for that haha.

Are you buying a wrapped set of wheels from AM? If so I understand your limit in brand but honestly, there are way better tires out there. I got falken fk 452 in 275/40/17 for 460$ all around shipped and they are WAY better tires than the sumis or nittos I've had. I really recommend them for a budget tire. I've got 10000km and 2 drag strip says on them and they still have 9/32 tread (80 percentish)

Nah, I'm not buying a wrapped set. I've just been looking at those two brands a lot here lately. I've heard good from most people about the both. From what you're saying the Falkens do seem to be really good tires. Have you heard anything about Nexen tires?

Nexens are cheap knockoff tires imo. I would probably take another set of nittos over the Nexens. Those falken 452 tires are the best all round performance*treadlifw /$ tire out there imo. I will be buying another set. I got mine off ebay so do a search there too. Tires are tires basically, doesn't matter where you get them from.

AM is probably where I'll end up buying tires from since I buy everything else from them. All of the reviews on there seem to imply that Nittos and Sumitomos are good tires. I've heard a few people I know have complaints about both brands. I'm to the point I don't even know what to buy. Haha.

Discount tire and tire rack are both good sites to buy from. Ebay is too and both those sites clearance tires through ebay. That's how I got mine so cheap. American muscle carries cheap tires because it makes their wrapped combos really cheap. I wouldn't buy the sumis or nittos through AM. Ebay isn't that scary. Just get the search setup and you're good to go. Hell I even got free shipping through the ebay bid.

I'd recommend looking at the bfg gforce sport. Ran those on two sets of wheels and they were good tires.
