Hi guys. I am planning to do a retrofit on my 2011 mustang with original halogen housing. I got a quote from LightWerkz, and they charge $315 for FXR Stage 1 system and $680 for labor, which sounds quite expensive to me. I was wondering if it would be better to go with a pair of 2013 mustang OEM HID headlights, which I found on ebay is priced at $999. Although I may need to do some new wiring in order to put the 2013 mustang headlights on my car.
What do you guys recommand? A retrofit project or 2013 OEM HID headlights?
And if someone has done a retrofit project or install 2010 -2013 mustang OEM HID headlights on their 2010+ mustang, please let me know if the retorfit really worth it or how I need to do the wiring with the OEM HID headlights.
This is the wrong way to do it. HID's are designed to work in a projector type housing. You get more light, but at a much shorter distance. HID's in a regular light housing "splash" the light at a short distance, giving you the impression the light is brighter. You are loosing distance with this arrangement.
And it is anoying to oncoming drivers. It's too bad the police are short handed and cannot inforce this against those who think they are above the law.
Glad to see people on here doing it the right way now. See way too many people here in south FL with those cheap fake HIDs in there halogen housing and it drives me nuts.
But Florida is improving...we now have a "no texting while driving" law that just past the house senate the other day. Problem is, it cannot be used to pull a driver over; the police need a primary reason first; maybe using HID's in a non projector light housing will work!

Wow so texting while driving is now illegal in Florida? Thank god if so, I see so many females texting in the morning when I am going to work, quite scary.
Retrofiting, although expensive is the only way to get GOOD QUALITY projector headlights. You can buy the aftermarket lights they sell on american muscle with the halos and everything, but you get what you pay for, and they are garbage and will only last a couple months if youre lucky.
i do retrofits, so message me and we can discuss some options for you and work out a reasoreasonable price so your nustang can look even better than it alreadt does!
