Roush or Shelby. What are that pros and cons???

I like them both. With the Shelby you get a lot of power and forged internals. Roush stangs are rare. Not nearly as many on the road as a Shelby. Looks classy and mean. Still has a lot of power but is a coyote motor instead of the 5.8l beast. I personally think Shelby since you get more for your dollar and spend about the same for each car.

I'd say roush.

I had the same dilemma as you about 2 months ago. I bought a 2013 Roush Stage 3 versus the Shelby for a number of reasons. Not saying one is better than the other but they are just different. Both phenomenal cars. If you want some more info as to why I chose the Roush feel free to PM ME.

Based upon the ones I've seen and raced at the track, both are very pricey and have problems delivering on their promised performance levels, straight line.

Ultimately, both are cool but, the Shelby is a purpose-built car and the Roush is a modded 5.0 and you can mod a regular 5.0 to destroy anything the Roush can do, cheaper and easily.

I've modded my 5.0 with 14k put into it which puts the $33k car to nearly $50k. And I STILL have suspension to do. A stage 3 roush would destroy me on a track. You can also mod a 5.0 to destroy a Shelby. It works both ways. If I could do it all again,....I'd buy a Shelby and wouldn't do anything to it.

I'd have to disagree. To a point. My base gt was rite at 30k$. For 20k$ in aftermarket parts my car would destroy a gt500! Both on the track and be better suited for everyday driving.
For that kind of $$ (65k$$+) I'd go with the roush because of a few things. 1 the collectibility is much higher with the roush because of the number of cars produced.2 there are little to NO options with the gr500 besides the stereo and maybe wheels/tires. Where the roush car has every option you can think of.
Don't get me wrong! Both cars are AMAZING and both have there strengths and weaknesses!
You can order a base gt and have all 3 of the roush kits put on it and still be 10-20k$ less than the gt500. But you'd be pushing the stock coyote bottom end to its limits. The aluminator is another 8k$ upgrade from roush.
Just because the gt500 makes more power than a phase 2 roush car doesn't mean it's faster! It's of my understanding the gt500 WAY over powers the suspension and brakes that come on it. The roush has a lot better balance of power, braking, and suspension than the gt500.
This is just my 2 cents lol

Seems like everyone's gt could destroy a gt500. Lol the one car I really want is the stage 3 aluminator. I'd take that over a Shelby. Like you said the collectibility is rare for the roush.

Yeah not downing the gts but models like Shelby hold there value and will rise in the future. Fifty years from now pretty sure some ones gonna take the Shelby over a suped up gt even if it'll lose to the gt. Shelby, boss, roush models are just investment cars. That's why they are so overpriced.

There's a VERY BIG difference between a supped up GT and a roush vinned rs3! The roush car will be worth WAY more! All have jack roush's personal signature on the dash. There's no way someone can convince me that a certain model year that produced 5,000 cars is going to be worth more than one that only produced 500! The 2013 roush rs3 will be worth more via a collectors stand point than a 2013 gt500! And I bet if you put both together on a track with equal drivers you'd be surprised at the results.?
If this is going to be the road taken why is the 2013 saleen mustang in this debate? It's only 80k$. Smfh
Bottom line is its a matter of opinion and personal preference! I my self can find many of other things to spend 70k$ on! My base 5.0 is awesome!

There have been some who put the Shelby and roush on a track and I believe the roush won more than the Shelby. I could be mistaken but doubt it. There's a silver rs3 here in az tha I'm eye balling but for $65k without the aluminator I'd rather buy the Shelby.

Has anyone gone to N.A.D.A. or KBB or have your bank try to book out a Roush vs Shelby GT500, vs Saleen? Tried to do for my buddy trying to sell his '02 Roush and Roush is not listed as a mfg. Saleen and Shelby are, but not Roush. His bank booked the car out as a GT Convertible, not an RS3 Convertible. Couldn't find anywhere to add Roush options. No problem with Saleen or Shelby. Anyone else have this prob?

Not sure how to book a roush? A real roush car will be vinned a roush car tho. There should be a way to check its value?
65k$ for a 2013 rs3? That's not bad. Loaded there just over 70k$. The phase 1 and 2 kits are NOT an issues for a stock coyote. In fact phase 3 would last I'm sure. I know several going thousands of miles and daily drive there FI gt's with stock guts. Id go forged at the 700hp mark tho
I've had this discussion with a few guys before. They ended up buying rs3's because of all the options you can get. I've seen this same topic grow into a heated agreement between grow men! But in the end its YOUR money! Spend it how you please. Go test drive both and see which you like best. Keep in mind what you plan on doing with the car. Just remember something. You can't go fast on the track if you can't corner with confidence.

The reason I posted that is because you can't book it out lol. I have been trying for 3 days. I have been told that they only lend on new Roush's with dealer invoice. I have tried 3 banks and 4 car appraisal websites, even autotrader. I called my local Ford Dealer and was told that the warranty is provided by and serviced by Ford Motor Co. Ford remains the mfg of the vehicle, so as far as resale value is concerned a Roush is a dealer upgraded GT. I bet I just pissed off a lot of people with that last line.

Before you Roush owners deal me a gang style beatdown, that was not my point. Just sharing the info. I don't know how accurate that info is, but if you know how to book out a USED Roush, please share with the rest of the world. Been trying to help my buddy sell his 02 RS3 Convertible, Kenne Bell Twin Screw Blower, RS3 Track Day Full Suspension, Bassani X-Side Exhaust, refinished leather, and best of all........this car is ACTUALLY signed by Jack Roush. We met Jack Roush at Brandon Ford (Roush Dealer) in 2003, he autographed the Roush trunk mounted tool kit in silver sharpie. Looks awesome, makes the car one of a kind.

I really wouldn't mind owning either cars. Understood the RS3 has the suspension you need to handle 650+ hp, but the Shelby to me is the cooler car. The snake badges are just cool and the Shelby looks nicer in my opinion. On the other hand, I would hate to spend that kind of money on a car only to turn around spend thousands more upgrading the suspension and brakes. That sucks to me, especially when the competition is getting it right, doing a more complete job. Z06 has no handling or braking issues, not like the Shelby.

It is true. There is no book on Roush's however if you are trading one in sometime in the future if you go to a reputable Roush approved Ford dealer they know what it is and can put a much better value on it. On the other hand a Roush being looked at on paper as a GT can have huge benefits for insurance and financing. When I bought my 2013 RS3 it qualified for 0% financing which was a HUGE deal for me because I am not able to pay cash for the car. That kept my payment much lower and saves me a TON of money in interest in the long run. I was also able to get $7,000 off of MSRP which would not be possible on a Shelby. Interest free financing and 7k off the sticker was enough for me to make it an even easier decision to pick the Roush Stage 3 over the Shelby.

This is a bit off topic, but personally I think the name "Shelby" is a bit overrated. He did more work with Dodge than he did with Ford, and we champion the guy like he is the messiah. Jack Roush has done more personally for Mustang performance than Shelby ever did. The guy has been building Mustangs for 30yrs. He was building Mustangs while Carroll Shelby was building Dodge's pony car. As far as Ford built Mustangs go, I do love the GT500.. but for my $$ I'd take a Roush simply because. He's Jack Roush.

I think either way your paying for the name. Not sure I want to go through the hassle to get one certified as a Stage-3. Not exactly happy of having to be careful on the dash were it is signed. Just my two cents.
