I have a 2010 v6 mustang and my check engine light is on. All the oxygen censors is on and 2 other codes.. My engine vibrates at idle .. I got my harmonic balancer checked and that's not it and my motor mounts not it I just got my spark plugs changed that's not it and I got my throttle body changed that's not it. One person is telling me it's my computer and the other is telling me it's my battery box and I need to get my wires done over in my engine. Has anyone else had this problem?????

Try this

Dis-connect your battery and take it to auto zone. They can check to see if it is a weak cell. If it is the battery then that is your problem. If the battery is good then put it back into the car and see if that fixed anything. If the Battery showed bad you need to replace it.

I'm sure all of your wires have not worn out.

I really do not think it is a computer.

I'm guessing it is just a weak battery. When did this problem start? Did you buy the car new? Does your car drive OK?

If it's not a bad battery you will probably have to go to a Ford dealer and get the PCM re-flashed. If the computer is bad and nobody ever had a tune on it they should replace it for free because the computers are supposed to be warranty covered for eight years.

I'm sure you will let us know what went wrong.

Have you had a "FORD" dealer check it out?

It may be worth the cost to take it to an Authorized "FORD" dealer to get this looked at. Having people guess will not answer the problem. Only a genuine "FORD" dealership is going to have the diagnostic equipment to see exactly what is going on.
That is if they have a real mechanic to run the equipment and not just a parts changer throwing trial & error parts on your car ( At your expense) until the problem stops.

I'll bet a previous owner must have done something

I'm wondering why they say "Battery ""BOX""" all that does is hold a battery.

Maybe a previous owner had something connected and just messed something up when they removed whatever it was And if what they removed was programmed into the CPU the computer is looking for that item and that is what is causing the problems.

Try a different dealer and see what they have to say.

Before I did anything further, I'd go to autozone, advance auto (or any other similar store) and have them read the codes. They do it for free.

This will give you a much better idea of what's going on rather than just guessing.

It could be something silly that you can fix yourself that Ford would charge a $120 "diagnostic" fee for. Aka a "hook it up to the OBD port and read the codes" fee.

These are the codes that I got P0135 oxygen sensor heater bank 1 sensor 1
P0141 oxygen heater circuit bank 1 sensor 2
P0155 oxygen heater circuit bank 2 sensor 1
P0181 oxygen sensor heater circuit bank 2 & sensor 2
P0403 exhaust gas recirculating control circuit
P0443 evaporator emission system purge control valve circuit

---------- Post added at 06:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------

But my engine still vibrates at idle ford checked those codes and said those where all good .

Are those codes you posted back, meaning they are set back in the box and the check engine light is back on? How many miles are on this car?

You may have bad O2 sensors.

What the heck is wrong with that dealer

They have the codes and can't tell whats wrong. DUH!!!! I can't understand this at all.
I think Bucko is right again on this one.
The OP needs to go to another dealer and forget about the Dealer that wants to just start replacing parts and screwing the OP out of $$$$$ and not just fixing the parts that need to be replaced.

I do believe it is eight years

I think it was a government thing to insure that all the auto/truck manufactures would not skimp on durability or quality of the computers they use in cars due to emissions and safety. I don't think when I read it that miles were mentioned at all.

All of the bad codes seem to be related

These are the codes that I got P0135 oxygen sensor heater bank 1 sensor 1
P0141 oxygen heater circuit bank 1 sensor 2
P0155 oxygen heater circuit bank 2 sensor 1
P0181 oxygen sensor heater circuit bank 2 & sensor 2
P0403 exhaust gas recirculating control circuit
P0443 evaporator emission system purge control valve circuit

Maybe somebody put leaded gas or an additive in your car at one time.

I'm guessing that is the problem

I just can't understand why some dealers are soooooo freakin bad when it comes to stuff like this. Are they that greedy or are they just plain stupid.
When you take your car in to get something repaired that is wrong with it , They have no mechanics trained well enough to use the diagnostic equipment and get the repair done. All they want to do is start changing unrelated parts before getting to the problem that needs to be attended to.

I sure hope his cats are not toast, Of course if what ever messed up all of the sensors could have ruined the cats.

I'm positive that there is not a thing wrong with his CPU. It seems to have pointed out the sensor problems. I guess it is doing what it is supposed to be doing. Giving codes for bad sensors.

The CPU is as good as the inputs it receives from the sensors.

Since this Mustang is out of warranty, I'd find a good shop to properly diagnose and repair it. The OP is not stuck with using the local Ford service center.

Even though it appears to be O2's based on the stored codes, I would not run out and buy them. They are not cheap, and tossing parts at a problem gets expensive quick.

Talk to some car folks in your area; find a reputable shop and get it diagnosed.
