X-Pipe

I was wondering if this x-pipe would be worth it (BBK Off-Road Mustang X-Pipe 1669 (99-04 4.6L) - Free Shipping)

It is an off-road x-pipe so that mean the catalytic converter would be removed. This isn't an issue since I live in Kentucky and emissions are never checked. Plus straight piped trucks run here all the time. However I was wondering if removing the "cats" could damage my car. Oh and could my gas mileage be hurt because of this to? A 1 or 2 mpg loss is not too bad but anything over 3 and i'll start getting worried.

I've heard about the fuel smell and i'm aware of that.

I have the same pipe. Gas mileage driving a V8 isn't that great anyways but I really haven't notice a huge difference on my 88 5.0. The odor is a bit more than normal but that's because of the no cats. These pipes were made for less restrictions. I love them and makes the car sound like a beast.

Yeah I understand the v8 gas millage is naturally bad but I don't want to make it heaps worse then it already is. Alright I will be removing my cats as well so i'm pumped for the sound. They are supposed to come in Monday!

I got the Pypes persion on mine with muffler deltes as well. Rarely have a gas smell, maybe couple times when windows down at idle. I think it makes a difference and helps. That said I have a 2013 but if you get you will probably need to tune since the cats will be removed.
Alright so the smell isn't too bad. Yeah will not getting the tune for a little bit cause any issues?

That's what I like to hear haha. I should hopefully get a tuner by my next paycheck. But it could go 2-4 weeks without a tune and I didn't want to ruin anything. With this set up I will have a bbk off road x-pipe and a flowmaster muffler. I'm pumped?

I mean it isn't even nearly that loud but I have a stock midpipe. Flowmasters though. Does the midpipe really make it that much louder...

Look up videos of bbk off road x pipes and flowmasters. It's got a bit of sound to them

What kind of Flowmasters do you have?
I honestly have no idea. The mufflers were on the car when I bought it

My car has BBK o/r X-pipe that goes into a three chamber Flowmaster exhaust out he back. It's got some sound in the car but you can still have a conversation. It barks out back though when you get on it!! In my opinion the 2 chamber sounds to hollow with headers and is too loud for me in the car.

I have Tuned Length Headers, O/R X-pipe, and CherryBomb Vortex cat back, on my '04 GT!.. Me and the wife can easily hold a conversation when just cruising around!.. Now when I stomp on it I will Wake The Dead!.. Lol

Word of advice though... If your going with a X-pipe, then stay away from Chamber Styled mufflers!.. They will then sound a bit raspy and/or have bit of a Rattle Sound!.. Especially with Flows!..

That's awesome. I work out of Frankfort. There are a few Kentucky guys on here. If you've never been to somerset, they have "somer nights cruise" the 4th Saturday of every month in the summer. It's a blast. Thousands of cars there.

Shoot yeah! We will plan it up! I don't always drive my car to Frankfort but we can plan it and I will drive it. It will be a blast.
