I used to have tint on my taillights that I bought off eBay for like 11 bucks but it recently flew off. I guess I got my money's worth for the year it lasted. I was wondering what you guys used for smoking your taillights? ie: AM Tint,VHT,eBay tint or any others

I used VHT nightshade. It's easy, cheaper, and looks great. Plus you can pick the shade you want it (whether it be 2 coats or 5 coats.) Be careful though.. Cops can an will pull you over for having smoked tails. I have been pulled over several times for them.

Nightshade is 8-12$ (plus you'll have a lot left over for other stuff) vs 30$ at AM.. Plus you can get the nightshade today. Up to you though.

I would opt for either the tail light vinyl strips or tinted tails from AM.

VHT is alright imo but requires prep, sanding, a few coats and a couple coats of clear to look right and not like sh*t.

I've installed the vinyl strips on my v6 tails which are now on the Mach 1 and they look almost identical to the tinted set of tails I have on the v6.

We cut all of our Vinyl Striping as well as Tint in house to cut down on QC issues and ensure that the best product possible is leaving our warehouse. Feel free to take a look at our Tint Kits and don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, I'm always here to help!

Yes they are pre-cut individual strips that you apply one at a time. If you take your time, clean the surfaces thoroughly and use a hairdryer they adhere and form to the contour of the lights real well.

Another nice thing about the vinyl strips is that you an still see the reverse lights during the day and if you don't want that portion tinted at all you can simply cut that section out.

Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 on a shop towel and rubbed it in like a regular polish, also a bit of wetsanding. Never clear coated them, but the Corvette barely gets driven once a week (if that) so it isn't exposed to the sun much. The VHT that was on the Mustang faded, which is why i took it off and put Vinyl. If the car sees a lot of driving then clear coat them or get vinyl.

Oh, must have been the darker setting in the garage that made them appear darker.

Your tails with VHT look decent, as said if done correctly they can look good.

I guess I'm just a lazy bastard and prefer vinyls or complete pre-done assemblies.

I want the matte look on mine since I am going to matte the decklid and want it to blend well with tail lights. Plan on using Smoke plastidip this weekend so I will let you know how it goes and post some pics
