where is the sound coming from?
engine bay? rear end? what side? more info. would be good.
but like I said I would check my alternator first if its coming from under the hood.
Does it get louder when you turn the wheel? Some older Fords usually have loud power steering pumps haha. Mine makes a whine type noise due to the cai in the fender ha ha

run your car, lift the hood and listen around for a hissing sound or whatever u can to try and find the noise that your concerned about. If it doesn't do it at idle just move the throttle cable to rev the car up and see if that helps you find it.or go post a video and we can tell you what it is.
My first mustang was a 98 and it had the same problem, my alternator was fine, it was the tensioner, if you want to make sure first you can do what me and my dad did. He hooked up a piece of garden hose to the end of a funnel and used it to pinpoint which tensioner it was coming from. Someone revs the engine while you listen with that contraption and find where it is originating from. Kinda backwoods I know but it really works.

Unscrewed the tensioner pulley, bolted the new one on and put the belt back. It was a really quick job. Just search youtube. I am sure it is up there.
