Just got my oil changed for the first time since owning the car. 14k miles. 2013 5.0. I got full synthetic Mobil 1 5w20. Totaled $120 with new filter. This sound right? Good oil to use? It's was like $60 for my truck can't remember what oil though.

Did they charge you twice? The top line says oil change $35, then the 5th line says synthetic oil change $40.. Seems silly to me that they charged for both of those things PLUS the oil.

The track packs hold 8 qts. The non track packs hold like 5-6 if I remember correctly. I can change my oil for around $75-85 depending on oil choice and that's worth 5w50 which costs twice as much as 5w20

Ah thanks, I was hoping someone chimed in. I thought the track packs held like 2qts more due to the oil cooler and piping

Brembo brakes in the front. 19" track pack wheels. Those are the dead give aways. Search Google for some pictures of them. If it's a track pack, I guess that price is OK.. Still high but makes more sense I guess

Track pack cars hold 8.5 quarts and non track pack cars hood 8 quarts. You'll know if you have a track pack by looking at the rear cover. If it is finned you have.

And just for the record there's nothing really special about track pack cars. Most that have it will never see a track. Some get it with the intention of drag racing which is a bad idea

I had similar thoughts, but was hoping that wasn't true

My oil changes run around 90-100 or so. I go full royal purple plus RP filter from AM - when you account for free shipping it ends up being a bit cheaper than buying it local.

Lots of guys like AMSOils also. I might run them for an oil change at some point to see what I think of it...but I have never had an issue with running any RP product on any of my vehicles - I probably will keep running them until if/when I develop a problem.

Trackpack asks for another .5quart over the base. Check the oil cap for the recommended weight, check for the finned rear differential cover like Grabber mentioned. Ford did sell 5.0s with the brembo wheels/brakes without the rest of the track pack parts.

I buy Mobil1 and a Mobil1 filter and bring it to the dealership. They charge me like $12 to change the oil. I used to do it myself but always get lazy with disposing of the used oil at the local autozone and it ends up piling up in the garage. $12 is worth not having to haul containers of used oil around town, plus after a 1.5" drop all around, not as easy to get the car up on the ramps or jack stands as it was before.

Walmart has the M1 5qt 5-20 containers for $24 right now... And they now stock the fl-500s filter for around $8... Pick up two of the 5qt and save the extra two for the next change.

You know that warm and fuzzy feeling? That means something bad is about to happen...
