New Suspension

Okay, I have decided on getting new springs to lower the 'stang so what all do I need? I have seen plenty of threads about getting a pan hard bar at the same time but I have also seen mention of camber bolts/plates/mounts and I have even been told I need new shocks and struts.

Do I need that much of an overhaul just for new springs? I am not sure if I am going with AM's SR springs and pan hard or Eibach. I guess it may depend on what all I need.

Not looking for slammed but 1.25"-1.5" is about what I want. FWIW, I do have new LCA's on the way already.

Thanks!

I just lowered mine yesterday W/ SE Lowering Springs & Steeda Adjustable Panhard bar. Then I got it aligned at the Ford dealership.

It drives AWESOME,STRAIGHT, No brake dive around the corners or when hard stopping. I'm so in love with my car now all over again! ❤???

Bare minimum recommendation would be springs, Panhard bar and camber bolts. You can do just springs, but you risk your alignment being thrown to hell.

Some people need them, others dont. Best to do it right the first time. Personally I'm doing struts and shocks as well as the rest, but that's because it's my preference to go all out and only do the install once.

Stuff like the CC Plates and the Panhard Bar are supporting mods.

Example:

If you lower the car using aftermarket springs you will absolutely have to have an adjustable Panhard bar, since the stock one isn't adjustable it will literally push your axle out to the side, it may not be noticeable to the average person, but it is pushed out depending on how low you go.

The CC Plates (or GT500 strut mounts) are there to adjust your Caster/Camber when you lower the car as stock you only have so much adjustability available to you.

Other parts:

Other stuff like rear lower and upper control arms help tighten up the rear end of the car in situations like launching and cornering.

You may get mixed opinions on what you may or may not need for the car, so I recommend being entirely clear as to what you want the car for. (I.e. Street car with occasional drag strip visits, just a better DD, a weekend autocross racer ect........)

All in all, when lowering I recommend the springs, CC plates, and the Panhard bar at minimum.

Thanks SoccerLuvr. That helps. Mostly just a DD but I want the performance gains from springs and such (and mostly a weekend project right now). I don't plan on doing any racing except for the occasional Camaro/Challenger feeling lucky at a stoplight. :)

I just ordered an adjustable PHB so now I am looking for someone who can get me springs by Saturday without raping my wallet...

Exactly. Somewhere in Northern Mexico. Next to the cactus and across from the donkey.

Don't hit the donkey and ruin the car!

Hey Tobey,

It's sounding like you got some really solid feedback in here from Socal, Joey, and Soccerluvr. I've used Eibach's extensively on domestics and imports (Yeah, I was young once:lol:) a nd they make a great product but for the money I would definitely recommend SR's Lowering Springs. Grabber has a great thread right over HERE with a few comments on the install and pictures, check it out!

They're going to free up some funds for a Panhard Bar and Caster Camber plates as Soccer had said. Struts and Shocks are really debatable. Because the vehicle is so new it's not going to be a must but they would greatly improve the performance!

Let me know if you have any questions and I hope this helps!

I did springs, shocks struts, adjustable panhard, adjustable UCA, LCA's and camber bolts. wasnt exactly cheap but man I can (in Mexico) turn on a dime, no body roll no wheel hop and lowered nicely. That said I do have some squeaks now but worth it
