SO....
I bought the car about a month ago, and basically heres the deal, I have transmission codes up my a** such as "not indicating park", seloniod codes and lastly EGR Valve pressure sensor coming to the computer. I checked with ford because the transmission codes made no sense because its a manual, turns out I have a Automatic computer in a Manual car. :banghead: I have a manual computer coming so I am hoping to get rid of some codes, I am also experiencing a knock in my read end, (loose axle??) Motor cuts in and out at 3k+ rpms sometimes, worse when its cold. Thinking of cleaning throttle body and checking axle again, it was tightened last week. If that doesn't work I am fresh out of ideas, ill keep you posted, Let me know what you guys think what I am up against here need all the help I can get.

Knock in rear end: U-Joints most likely. Make sure the bolts are tight on them. I had them come loose on my 94 & thought something was wrong with my rear end. It was only the bolts.
If it's not your U-Joints then it's more than likely (Can't think of what it's called but it's in the rear end where the Drive shaft goes in). Some kind of Seal or Bushing.
Cleaning your T-Body will help. Also Clean the MAF Sensor & IAC Sensor & if you have a CAI...Clean that Filter too. That should fix the cutting in & out unless your Cats are getting clogged. I wouldn't do anything but the rear end until I put the new computer in as that might solve the rest of the problems.

Do a complete tune up.
Clean maf and any other acronym.
Check your timing and fp.

update

I installed the computer and got a 314 code, re attached a vacuum hose, I need to clean sensors and that stuff but I feel very underpowered still.. no new codes besides that.

Did you get your car running right yet ? If you cleaned all your sensors & it's still running crappy give your cats a couple whacks with a mallet. If they're getting clogged you'll lose power & eventually you'll feel like your tranny's slipping.
Code 314 reads: AIR System inoperative during KOER (key on engine running) Bank #2 with dual heated O2 sensors. So either your cats are clogged or you need new o2 sensors.
By any chance have you looked to see if anyone removed the Cats & Smog Pump ?
If they did you'll probably have to get a tune to get rid of that code. Not sure you'll get through emissions that way either. I always do away with the 4 stock cats & just use 2 Hi-Flow Cats instead. I also use an X-Pipe & Glass Packs & I get through emissions with no problem. Lot of people don't like that sound as it's loud & Crackles when you rev the engine.

its at the shop, since its obd1 I don't have a reader for it and the obd 2 reader i have reads for 97 and up. but anyway im having it diagnosed, looks like currently some idiot put the wrong size vacuum hose on the pump, & i looked at its smog record and it failed a few times before the last owner was able to pass it, he did give me a receipt and he had bought 3 and installed new cats very recently before I bought it, I will clean sensors when I get it back maybe a day or two. The new computer fixed the cutting in and out problem, this weekend ill tear it apart and give it a Brazilian. :trash:

Yeah, I had a pretty nice 94. Took some work before I got it right. But it was a fun car & I learned how to tear apart the motor & rebuild it from top to bottom.
Anyway, it seems more often than not a Sensor is usually the culprit with these cars. Hope the shop didn't hit you too hard as a new sensor is about $30 on Ebay & a hose is under $5.
You should pick up a Chiltons on that car. It helped me solve a lot of problems & showed me how to do it.

They charged me 360 for 6hrs of diagnosis and all parts and labor for the maf, vaccum hose and they fixed a groundwire on the headlights. Now i want to start modding, I want it lowered on springs and im thinking 4.10 gears. I noticed my exhaust is already extreemly low to the ground, it scrapes over speedbumps along the connection between the cat and the other exhaust pipe. i have 2 shocks blown, right front and left rear, it there anyway to lower without scraping more? or am i scraping so bad because of blown shocks? I plan on getting full kit of shock and struts w lowering springs what do you guys reccomend i do first? gears or lower kit? what brand of either do you reccomend?

Fix the suspension first. You will notice a big difference. Try to keep the mod bug away until you have a good starting point. No sense in getting gears if it doesn't drive correctly due to blown out parts. Eibach makes great parts and they have been making mustang parts forever.

Get her safe and running good.

Adjust the exhaust so it doesn't scrape.

I'm not really sure why. I believe it has something to do with the gearing in the tranny but not sure. When I had the gears done in my 94 I asked on M.E. & everyone said 3:73's for a stick & 4:10's for an auto. When I took the car to Fox Body Performance to get the gears done they agreed with that so I took that as the truth. Smurf might know the answer to why. If not Scotty, Almost Stock or Grumpy GT will know for sure.
