I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on good Interior LED Lighting for under dash both sides and rear seats. Ive seen some vids of lighting that flashes with the music and such but cant find them anywhere. I have a 2012 stang conv. V6 in yellow glaze.
Got you. I guess I could, was trying to avoid going all the way up there . Was wondering if anyone knew of an easier place to get to. Plan on doing footwell lights and maybe some on the door panels.
If it's an '06, you should probably post something up in the '05-'09 section. The wire colors could have changed when Ford switch over to the 2010 body style so we may end up giving you bad info.
yeh i was planning about the same thing i probly shouldnt say this but i was in a camaro a few weeks ago and really liked all the lighting in it but i didnt buy the premium on my mustang so i wasnt given the my color option so i made my own version and am still in the process just missing some foot lights for under the dash but hey was preaty easy and cheap to do :thumb:
Dont waste money on paying for installation. They are pretty simple to put in. Just pick up the 12v cig light adapter and run the wires under or add a fuse through the firewall.

Check out LEDGlow and my pics....less than 20 bucks for a 4-tube kit and it looks amazing and also can be set to 16 different settings, to include music
yeh same bro my friends camaro lights up and i like the custom look too. i got them from a web site i googled el wire and they come out there only like 11 dolars for the light plus like 10 more in fuses and switches at autozone. leme post the site i found them. hold up
Looks awesome! I've seen how the interior lighting is installed under the dash, but what did you use for the dash itself?
The lighting circling the dash gives it a great custom look.
its called el wire and i wired it to a switch then to a fuse then to any fuse slot in the passenger foot well and they even have other colors here is the link if u guys get it post pics so i can see other colors . came out cheap and easy to do too:thumb:
Only problem I see is the wiring. What exactly did you wire it to? My dad always helped me with the electrical work but it does seem simple. Worth a try.
first u get the el wire it has 2 wires a ground and live wire. you could hook it up either by putting the red wire from the el wire to a fuse line that that can be bought at autozone real cheap . wire it to the fuse box by ur passenger foot well and the ground to a ground wire or make ur own . or if u want it with a switch like i got it you would wire it to the switch first then the fuse line then the red wire to the fuses in the footwell or battery direct. if u still need some help i can post a youtube vid of how the wiring should go. if u like.:thumb:
how did u put in the cluster and how much was it and where can i order the cup holder lights mine was also the base and i want it pretty much to light like ur car does like the premium ones do can u give me a idea what im up against
So the cup holders, door sills, and door panels were all purchased on Ebay. Door panels are rare but usually go for 400-700 for the pair. Sills are 70-100 for the pair. The Clusters are EXTREMELY hard to get ahold of unless you buy one from Ford.
Swapping the cluster is a long process and will more then likely void your warranties. This is because the cluster you swap in, may not have the same mileage as your original one.
You will also need a VCM II tool to program the new cluster. The tool can run $150-$200. The clusters vary in a wide range. As cheap as $150, all the way up to $600.
All of the wiring, I spliced into components that turned off/on with the daylight sensors. The footwells and cupholders were wired into the Automatic shifter lights. The door sills wired into the Dome lights. And the door panel LEDs were spliced into the LEDs in the lock/unlock buttons.
This project is for people who like a challenge and will do whatever it takes to get their car to where they want it. This will take alot of research if you plan on doing this.
But yea...my car is pretty much a premium now for all I care. Besides being able to change the lights in the entire car, it has everything a premium has. Brushed metal dash, GT500 pedals, Leather interior, and everywhere that is normally lit with Ambient Lighting, is. I guess I could change the color of the lighting, but that would require me to resplice the wiring. As the color changes depending on which wires you splice in.
Go to thatscoolwire.com and get the electroillumenecnt 2.7 mm wire u can order a custom pack. You need 60 inches for each door and 114 for the dash. That's what I just ordered they even have tape there is so any things you can do with this wire. I plan on highlighting my body lines as well the wire just looks sick as heck. Good luck with the protect.
Hey guys I'm installing 2 LED strips from LEDglow and I wanted to write it to the fuse box but I need to know the size to order the expandable circuit. Does anybody know what size fuses we have? I believe it's mini. Thanks
Also does anybody know how I can send the wires to the Led strip from the passenger side to driver side?

I fed mine underneath/behind the radio area. Tape the wire around something like a wired hanger, and then feed it through. You can see where there is an opening by flashing a light through. If you see light on the opposite side, then there is an opening for you.
No need to wire to the fuse box then. What I did with mine, was I tapped into the shifter lights on my Auto (The P, R, N, D, S lights). When you pop up the cup holder, there is a red and black wire running to the shifter lights. Red is positive and black is negative.
I did this because those lights are controlled by my daylight sensor. So they only come on when my Auto lights turn on and turn off when the rest turn off. Just make sure to have your battery disconnected when you do this.
I fed each side up and under the radio faceplate/cupholder.
Ahh I see, that's def a good option but I would prefer the fusebox method. The reason why I wanted to plug it to the fusebox using a expandable circuit is because it's simply plug and play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZp1vqScX64
I don't have access to the mustang right now so that's why I was asking if anyone knew lol.
I tapped in to my Auto shifter's lights. This sets up the LEDs to light up when you turn your headlights on manually, or if you have the Auto headlamps, it turns on when it gets dark.
Not sure how you would do this for a manual transmission.
