Hi All,
I just purchased my second mustang, single owner 2003 v6 5 speed. extremely clean and good condition and for a great price. I bought the v6 because I'm planning on doing a Coyote swap. I know all the parts I need, and what to do but the only part that I'm caught up on now is the computer. I was told buy FRPP that the control pack would work with the V6 ECU, my only problem is installing it. Any one have any insight? I plan on pulling the V6 motor, trans, rear, fuel system and PCM and selling what I can, and start with suspension and working my way up finishing with the motor install. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll post pictures when I pick the car up tomorrow.

I don't know about that control pack but I'm sure that it will come with instructions.

I believe that you would be the first one to do a Coyote/New Edge swap, on this website, so you will be the one that is educating us!
Definitely keep us posted on any progress that you make and perhaps some of the more "well read" forum members might have some insight on this swap.

The control pack is on AM/LRS/CJP and others. With the forum discount it will be about $1400 and change. Its a standalone system, there is nothing that works with your V6 ECM, the Coyote computer/harness controls all the motor functions.

I'll also be the first wet blanket to say you are going to spend damn near as much money doing this as you would just buying a 2011GT.

But it'll be a lot more badass and so much lighter.

I know a coyote engine weighs 100 pounds less than a 2v so there is weight reduction. Not to mention the tubular k arm and may as well do A arms also.

Just some stuff to think about.

I'm talking about the Coyote and the rest of the car to support it. Put a Coyote into a V6 with the V6 trans and rear and suspension and you'll lose to a 3.5L Altima. Gotta build the car as a whole package and plan it out in advance. Or just wind up like 1/2 the Mustang owners out there with cobbled together combos...

Everything u need can be had for 8k including a tko 6speed brand new from several places you just have to call. Otherwise you can get the motors complete for as little as 2k from pick n pulls. Wiring harness and CONTROL packs extra of course. If ur running auto it's an ez rebuild and adapter to handle the power

$2500 for the motor
$500 for new cams (GT intake, Boss exhaust)
$1400 for the control pack
$700 for the accessory brackets
$1100 for swap headers/mid pipe
$500 for a new 3" catback
$1800 for a fresh T45 or 3650 from Zak/SpeaceATL
$500 or so for a mail order tune

You are now right at $9k, this is just bare bones and not taking into account the fuel stuff, suspension and other "basic bolt ons" so figure more like $12k. Again this is doing it all yourself.

Now factor in the cost of a clean 94-04 car and when I say clean I mean real clean, something you would not need to do much to, something like I just sold.

Figure $6-$7k for one like that which is right in the price of what I sold mine for so now you are at $18-$19k and you still probably need to do a few things to the suspension/chassis to get it right.

Like I said, I've ran the numbers and there is a reason I sold that car above as good as it looked and as well as it ran. I sold it because when all was said and done, I could buy a real low mileage 11/12 Coyote for the price it would take to finish this car.

IMHO, the Coyote swap is great but its not cost effective. For someone with a car like that one I had, get a $1500 used S trim and then get it tuned remotely and be happy with a 400rwhp 2V which will run 11s all day and be a real fun street car but if you are looking for more power than that I have to say sell and go with something that starts out around the 400-500hp level and go from there. YMMV.
