Another CAI question

I was doing some research on google and search threads on this forum and others and found very little about water entering the intake through some of the larger brand CAI systems for the 2013-2014 mustang GT automatic. I was looking at the K&N CAI 63-2578 because it shields water from entering the intake and preventing damaging the MAF and other components. It is advertised to achieve 20 RWHP without a expensive tune. This seems logical. However I do like the Steeda and JLT intake systems as well. The JLT comes with a foam piece that gets mixed reviews on how well it works. The Steeda advertises a 101 mm MAF as does the JLT but I'm sure a tuner is required as well. They both are open to the elements however and can cause damage. What is your take on this? For those of you with steeda or jlt CAI, have you experienced water going into your filter? For a DD on a tight budget, would you recommend the K&N and just get a tune later on?

But how good do the inserts work in real life. I saw a video of someone spraying a hood with a water hose but the car was sitting still. There were no road vibrations or any other variables. The reason I believe the JLT and other CAI require is because they use a larger MAF sensor. As I stated before in my original post the "fix" is a foam hood insert. Does it really work in your experience. I heard of people having engine damage.

Why are they called CAIs? Aren't they just sucking in hot air right under the hood? How do they add anything power related even with a tune when supposedly the stock airbox is built to bring in the most volume of air?
This seems like only a cosmetic mod to me for the limited amount of time you may have your hood open and look at stuff.
....open hood
-wow! It's a 5.0
- just. Like. Every. Other. GT.

Seriously, I'm not trolling. I have a stock GT now and I'd like some more power but I'm too Leary of a tune unless maybe I do then FRPP track key but that's $400+. And for the life of me, I don't understand how people are buying superchargers etc.....Jeebus people!!! That's like 7 $ grand! Is everyone here heroin dealers?
And there so much confusion for me how a different air filter shape that sucks in hot air can do anything?

His application is with a supercharger though

Sent from my VS985 4G using Mustang Evolution mobile app
And smaller pullies from Roush, my cars year is the year during half way into production Roush installed their smaller pullie system from the factory...

Adventure till you drop
Well that's different and has nothing to do with this thread.

The factory system is a 'True" CAI, as Grabber Blue 5.0 says. I purposely got a tune a month after I bought my car, and the gains came from the tune itself, with me still using the factory CAI. Many at the track have come to look at my car, after seeing my passes, and are surprised to see the stock CAI. Seems many of the manufacturers of these so called CAI, are enjoying the rewards of their advertisements, but will be quick to find an argument when you prove them wrong. Dont believe the Hype! The factory has a sealed box, which effectively allows the cold air coming in through the grill to stay cooler. You want to increase air? Remove the grill foglights, and get the best open grill you can find to allow more air through the grill.

Chopper, are you still getting water through the hood vents? What kind of "fix" are you suggesting? This is the direction I'm looking for. I know the hood can be changed to a different style but I like the way it looks. Maybe blank hood inserts for the forward most vents?
