My 2005 Mustang for $1,300

Ok so I bought another mustang (in addition to my wife's). BUT this was pretty much a deal I couldn't pass up. Since I'm driving the Saturn right now, I think that this will make for a better daily driver than the Saturn, and I have every intention of either dropping a 5.0 into it, or if I'm too lazy I'll just flip it for a profit when I'm done. And it's kinda cool cause it's the same model and color as my wife's.

Story is I had a girl trade this 05 mustang in for a Jeep. After much arguing with my manager who wanted to give her $5k for her car, I convinced him to give her $1000 for it. Had to replace the battery in her Jeep and since we weren't making any money on the deal in the first place, boss said he was tacking it onto the cost of the trade making it $1200. I get to buy cars for $100 over our cost, hence $1,300 mustang.

It's Satin Silver exactly like my wifes, even has the same black stripe and all. V6 Automatic with red leather. Now let's get into the bad. This girl was the biggest pig you've seen in your entire life. Here's some pics from when I first traded the car in.

The disgusting trunk

And yes if you're wondering, those are thank god unused tampons laying in the back.

Day 1
So after getting a ****ing mask and gloves, I start emptying the trunk out.

Yes that is her nasty ass old underwear and bra in the trunk

Along with empty vodka bottles, fast food wrappers, and more I found 9 of these in the trunk. Apparently she would just eat yogurt, and toss the empty container into the trunk.

Day 2
Moved to the inside. Let us look at how disgusting this ***** was.
The film of dirt on every inch of everything

That's not discoloration, it's a film of dirty nasty **** over it.

Yep, that black **** is mold on the leather

And yes that white **** you see in the back of all the trash, had some mold in the carpet.

I don't even know how the **** she got stuff down into the shifter.

So I pull out the extractor and scrub brush and hit the carpet with hot water, and some chemicals.

Day 3
Decided to get to work on some of the interior stuff. Let us look at the E-brake. Groce!

Not perfect, but much better.

Now lettuce see what made me almost puke. I start using a screw driver to chip the stuck coins out of the drink holder.

But one of the detailers gave me some all purpose to spray in and leave it over night.

I come back and find that some of it has drained. Oh great, now it's a sludge and where did the liquid go? Well I put some gloves on and start feeling around to find that there is what appears to be a hole in the rear of the cup holder. But it isn't. There is apparently and insert in there I didn't know about.

What I found under the insert almost made me puke.

So I took the wet vac and sucked it out, then got to cleaning.

They came out pretty good.

Moving on to the dash...
So much groce

Film on everything

But after many much scrubbing and a lot of all purpose

^Not to bad!

Friday/Saturday
Got my remote fob in from late model resto last night.

And got it programmed today too.

Program Key Remote 2005 Mustang - YouTube

Saturday/Sunday

Got a little more work done over the weekend.

Picked up a steamer Saturday and the wife and I got to peeling tint Saturday evening.

You may remember what the tint originally looked like and why it had to go. It was actually unsafe, couldn't see a damn thing out the back.

Coming off fairly well.

Sunday after church I picked up some of this stuff and went over the my buddy's house.

Sprayed the rear windshield down with it, it was ok. Bout the same as goo gone.

While that was going to town I took the hood off and went to town removing the cowl cover. That leak that was around the ECU, it was time to fix.

Cowl covers pretty straight forward, get the clips out and it just pulls right off.

And here we can see why it was leaking, one of the grommets had rotted so much that it just fell out apparently.

And it was a little gross so I sprayed it down and went back to work on getting the tint and goo off.

Came back and cleaned it all up

This is what the grommets should look like compared to one of the ones I pulled from my car. No wonder they were leaking.

After I had that all done and the hood back on I finished up the goo on the rear windshield. At which point I realized I'm apparently missing the cover for the child restraint thing.

Lol, trip to JY for one of those probably. That **** would drive me up a wall every time I walked by the rear window #ocd

Car looks effing great otherwise. Its come a long way from the sausage/egg/cheese repository that it was prior to you getting it haha.

With the heart and soul that you've poured into this beast, I can see it staying with you for a very long time. Anyone who ever gets the privilege to ride with you will surely feel the love.
Thanks guys. It's finally getting to a point where I'm excited about it, and when I look at it I can really see the difference.

This week I am getting the interior finished up. I should be receiving two more cans of that spray I used on the trunk today or tomorrow from AM, and I already have the boom mat for it at home. That's going in Wednesday, and I believe Tuesday I should be getting the seats repaired. Hopefully by the end of this week the only things I'll need to do to the inside are the door panels and the shifter.

Fantastic bro. No more love than the love for a pony. Well maybe wife and kid but you know what I mean.

It is a great thread

I love the way this Mustang was brought back to life. I have followed this one from day one.:thumb:

I hope he don't

That sounds awful. Way to tinny of a sound for me.

Hey, its your car

If you like the way it sounds, Fine with me. It may just be my speakers.

Next week I'm getting the outside touched up. The dents and stuff won't be fixed, but the paint will at least get touched up. I'd prefer to wait until then to post pics of how it looks now if that's ok.

Got some real work done yesterday.

At least this time it was cleaner when I got all the interior out.

So I took this stuff

And went to work.

After the final coat on the driver's side

Time to get the passenger side

Well that needed a few hours to drive so I figured in the mean time I'd try to work on my shifter.

So I took the whole thing apart

And found this in the bottom

Some all purpose and this to blow it out

Figured I'd start taking the rest of it apart, in hopes of fixing the gear indicator.

But then I got frustrated with it so I moved on to the upkeep stuff.

Still needed more time to dry so I got my bumper grill put in. Looks better. Not my favorite grill but at least it's a matching honeycomb as the top grill.

Well now it dried. Time to get the boom mat in.

Measured it out at about 20 inches across, though if you are doing this I suggest you measure yourself.

Driver's side done.

Passenger side done.

I did succeed in losing the screw that holds my shifter handle in, as well as breaking the shifter indicator. Unfortunately I stepped on it and it is now in two pieces, so I'm pretty sure I'm just going to replace the shifter all together in the not too distant future.

Now everytime I touch the shifter it wants to do this.

On a better note, I did also pick up some mats for free. They aren't the red ones I want, and I don't really like rubber mats, but for free I couldn't complain until I buy the red ones I want.

Now let me take a moment to give my personal review for this dei boom mat spray.

This stuff is a no good waste of money. Not the tiniest bit of noise reduction. The ONLY place I noticed any difference was the trunk, and to be honest, it wasn't enough to matter.

As for the inside of the car, I assumed that by doubling up, doing two coats of DEI spray AND using the dei boom mat I would surely notice some difference. None whatsoever. My wife road in the car with me and asked if I had even done anything at all.

DO NOT waste your money on a dei product. I will never be buying any of this again. Might as well throw your money out the window.

I've seen that lizard skin stuff used on powerblock TV. That stuff seems to be pretty legit. It's considerably more expensive though. I've always just done the dynomat extreme. It's stupid expensive but man that stuff works. I had 100 sq feet in my Tacoma I traded in for my mustang and I asked the sales guy if it was normal to get all the road noise on our cars. He was like what road noise. I was so use to my matted truck.

Theres a product on amazon called gtmat. I used it in my trunk, and it was pretty effective. Likely not as good as dynamat, but waaaaaaay cheaper. Its not very thick but not thin either. Eventually I wanna remove my carpets and line the floors with it to reduce some road noise. I put some around my shifter too and it definitely helped that as well.

I had been hoping to get somewhere in the middle. Better than no insulation or sound dampening like it was, but maybe not as good as dynamat. I understand that you get what you pay for, but I was at least expecting something from this.

What I will most likely do is replace the carpet with brand new carpet with the insulation molded into the back.

I will say this, after adjusting my radio last night, the spray on my trunk does help a little bit. But in the car... terrible. All of it.

Red. I don't care about rear mats. Just red floor mats. If I come across the original ones for a good price, just plain red ones, I'll scoop them up. Otherwise, if I have to hold out I'll get some red ones with a running pony stitched on them.

So yesterday my deck lid black out panel came in. I don't think it looks quite as good as my wife's mach 1 style panel, but it still looks pretty decent. Hers was also $130, and mine I had a lucky find on ebay, so I can't complain.

So that made me feel a bit better. I think that black out panel just changes the look of the rear so much!

Got my seats fixed up really nice today. You may remember what they looked like before.

PASSENGER SEAT

DRIVER'S SEAT

The red was so dull too. When you looked at the back seat you could tell a huge difference.

Working on filling in the cracks in the leather and vinyl.

And here's how they came out! I'm pretty excited.

PASSENGER SEAT

DRIVER'S SIDE

So shiny red! I love it!

They aren't perfect, but they are loads better than they were. Eventually I want to replace the the two middle leather inserts, with black leather to make the seats two tone.
