Well, I finally decided to do a thread on my car. Won't be anywhere near as good as some if the past build threads.

So far I've done lighter wheels(RTR), and wider tires, still Pirelli all seasons though. RTR axleback, window tint, taillight tint, window louvers, Steeda black shorty antenna, and Ford OE unpainted hood vents.

But, it does need warranty work. Full repaint.

Will have many more mods to follow.

Haven't updated in a while. I would have already had a few mods ordered, but between 2 mandatory driving classes that were 100 each, combined with about $340 from 2 tickets, college payments, and moving in a week, I just don't have much.

Anyone know why it only fits manual transmissions? Different flange?

I've seen that on a lot of things. Ford mainly puts it to cover their a$$ on anything. So I'm more puzzled about why it wouldn't fit both transmissions, when other Driveshafts do.

Anyone heard of those bushings before? Great price, but I've never heard of the bushings.

I'm about to order the SHR louvers. I'll be ordering them painted from SHR.

I think you are better off having them paint it. I just didn't get their best work on the first shot. Tape lines for the viewing windows were off and crooked. But they have another set in the works for me. Should go out this week. The wait time sucks too. But since your red, they prob keep your color in stock. Mine is a one year color so it took about 3.5 weeks for the first set, and I'm about 3 weeks into the second set.

Yeah, I think Red Candy Metallic was a 2 or 3 year color. Hopefully your second set is how it's suppose to be.

Should I order it with the install kit? I'm going to find a body shop to install it after the repaint.

I wouldn't. You can order the primer and glue for under 40 bucks. If your paying someone to do it, you don't need the tool to remove the glass. They do. Lol. I just purchased the stuff from an auto body supply place online. Same part numbers. It was WAY cheaper. I already have a window removal tool same as they use. I'm doing the install myself.

Thanks Ox. Good luck with yours.

How much can are they painted again?

Mine are 404.99. Granted, I think my paint is the most expensive.

Well its a tricoat paint...

Kinda like how Ford charges extra for this and one other paint selection (can't think of it) on the 13's.

#191 ·
Me too! Lol. Mine are shipped so I should have them soon. FYI, if you were going to get a set, he painted 2 sets to send me a different pair (he always paints them 2 sets at a time) so he has a Oxford set sitting there. Just sayin. I know you just blew your load on that shaft though ?

Anyone know any good paint/body shops in the NOVA (specifically alexandria) area? Otherwise I may just wrap my car like this.

Alright, been putting it off way too long. Will order tonight.

1 question about the louvers. Should I order them painted already, or unpainted, since the entire car will be repainted soon. I've just been so busy with college summer classes, church, and unpacking around the house that I haven't had time, or have just forgotten to order them. I'll take a screenshot of the confirmation.

Unpainted, I'd order from AM. Painted would obviously be from SHR.

I'd get them from shr. they are not easy to mask and paint. Plus they are lexan and require the proper prep and adhesion promoter ect. I wouldn't trust someone who has never painted them before to do the job. You wouldn't want to install them and then have the paint chip off later due to poor prep or wrong materials. My .02

Yeah, your right.

Anyone taken their hood insulation off? It seems pointless to me that it's there. Only thing I'm worried about is how the engine bay would fare in a heavy thunderstorm without it, since I'm assuming more water would be let in as a result of not having it on. I doubt heat would affect the paint from having it off.
