Mustangz Build Thread.

Well, I finally decided to do a thread on my car. Won't be anywhere near as good as some if the past build threads.

So far I've done lighter wheels(RTR), and wider tires, still Pirelli all seasons though. RTR axleback, window tint, taillight tint, window louvers, Steeda black shorty antenna, and Ford OE unpainted hood vents.

But, it does need warranty work. Full repaint.

Will have many more mods to follow.

But you don't daily drive yours. It never sees the rain. Mustangz has to drive his rain or shine. And we see plenty of nasty weather here in va.

I dunno mustangz, if you don't have a CAI then I don't think it would hurt anything. But it will make it harder to keep the engine bay as clean since the water will drip on a bunch of other stuff. Plus I imagine it keeps some of the engine noise down along with the heat. I would leave it if I were you but that's my opinion.

Just ordered the louvers. Finally.

I'm sure, your car looks great with them. Next body mods are the Stalker Hood (my next mod) and the RTR decklid and spoiler whenever they are remanufactured.

#211 ·
Btw, thanks for your help with the questions about them. Gonna sell my other louvers once these are installed. I did order prepainted.

#213 ·
No, I'm going to have the dealership install them. I'm just not comfortable with taking apart the interior and trimming one of the panels to do it. I'm going to buy the adhesive and other thing in the install kit from a local store, probably cheaper. The dealer should have the glass tool.

#215 ·
Honestly trimming the interior panels is pretty easy. Worst part is cutting the glass out and applying the new adhesive. Not sure what the dealer will charge you to do it but if you want you could always come to my house and I could help you. Only bad part is that you have to wait like 6-8 hours to drive it and you can't have the windows up when you drive it for the first 12-24 hours. I know you live a few hours away but 30-40 bucks in gas might be way cheaper than the dealer. PM me if you want ?? I learned quite a bit doing mine. It's really not hard. It's the unknown that sucks before you've done it.

Thinking of looking at local salvage yards for the Stalker Hood or Trufiber hood that is similar to it. Probably a lot cheaper than buying it online. If it's not, or I can't find it in a local yard, I'll order it.

#216 ·
Why do you have to wait that long? Because of the adhesive? And that you' have to drive with the windows down at all, nevermind for that long doesn't make sense to me.

#217 ·
Yeah the adhesive takes 4-8 hours to cure depending on the temp outside. The reason you have to keep the windows down is because when you roll them up and drive it creates a suction or a pressure inside the cabin of the car. So if the adhesive isn't 100% cured you could cause it to be sucked away from where it's supposed to be and cause a leak or worst case you lose a louver.

Oh geez. Good thing is that it's hot as heck outside in the summer! Well, actually, in VA, and you know this I'm sure, it could be 95 one day and 70 the next.

EDIT: We're most like going to call safelite and have them do it in the driveway.

#219 ·
You will still have to take out your interior panels first. Then they can't go back in until they are trimmed. Just FYI ?? I doubt safelite would remove the interior panels. But if they would I wouldn't want them touching my stuff. Haha. Well if you decide you want some help, let me know.

I'm aware, you can do it without removing the interior though. Just a small strip that would have to be cut, as it extends into the area where the louvers would go.

A guy on The Mustang Source has put together a guide of what he did, to install them without removing the interior. I'll see if I can find that again and link it.

Now for the Cervini Stalker hood and the repaint. I'll have these installed afterwards.

#227 ·
Just something I thought about. Would I realistically be able to get diminished value since the car is getting repainted?

#228 ·
Anyone know some good catch cans? I've heard JLT isn't, been looking at the UPR and Bob's firewall cans.

I went with the moroso because I like how it mounts and the construction is top notch

I didn't like that the majority of the others just "hung" or "sat" on something like a radiator hose ect. I also like the fact that the moroso has a drain at the bottom and you can easily empty it.

I like those coil covers though!

Saw this on Facebook. Looks like I may be buying a new PCV valve. Cheap, and seems like it could be a better fix than a catch can... for way less. Install of it is easy too.

Not sure if that would need a tune though.

It doesn't. This will be ordered and in the car in a few days.

Just went by the dealership today. Apparently the case number expired, so they contacted the regional manager to see if they can view the imaging and get approval to repaint at this dealer. Worst case, re submit the imaging through Ourisman Ford (the local dealership) and get approval that way. Either way, it'll take a few weeks to repaint the car, so I mkst likely won't be having it done until after the AM show, since I don't want to change possibly not having a Mustang for the show.

To keep everyone updated, never got a call back. I just took it to the dealer again. They say that it's over spray from the factory, so they are clay barring it pending approval, and if that doesn't work, then a repaint would be done, or so they say. This is really starting to piss me off.
