2003 GT is too damn quiet!

I have a 2003 GT and I purchased the American Thunder system from AM last year. It's too damn quiet for my liking. Anyway, I'm not sure if I should just purchase a different catback exhaust system, or try adding an aftermarket H/X pipe? I hate the idea of spending another $500+ on a new catback system, but I'm just not sure if an aftermarket X/H pipe will be loud enough? Also, I'm curious if a catted X/H would be much louder than the factory pipe?

The off road pipes, either x or h will be a lot louder than the stock mid pipe.

UPR catted X is $300, uses super high flow Magnaflow cats, is made in the USA and has amazing ground clearance.

A catted aftermarket pipe will make the car louder but not obnoxiously loud where you are going to piss off neighbors and attract cops.

Only reason at this level to run an O/R pipe is sound. Good aftermarket cats like the Magnaflows do not rob any power and keep you legal. Buddy of mine up north swapped his pipe and the first DAY got pulled over buy a cop and issued a 48hr fix it ticket and a fine.

Also remember, being the loudest does not mean the car sounds good. If I sound like a prick, I'm not trying to be, just making sure you make the right choice for YOU and don't do anything that might cause issues for you in an emissions state.

Definitely getting a catted mid pipe...gotta get the old girl breathing better, but going with suspension mods first.

They do sound good.

Another real good combo is an X pipe with a straight through muffler like a Bassanni/Magnaflow/Dynomax Ultra. The Ultra is my go-to muffler if I am starting with a stock setup.

They're basically resonators and super obnoxious. I mean if you are going for max noise yeah but they sound like ass IMO. Just a lot of noise, no real... muscle car sound.

I wanted to make a sign that said this and put it in front of the house I used to live in for the couple of jackasses who ran them and did blasts up the street at 2AM. Nobody works weekends or has kids or anything...

If you want a LOUD but good sounding setup i would recommend getting longtube headers with a offroad x pipe and borla atak stainless steel cat back. Its so freaking loud but it still has such a unique tone to it people tell me all the time that they have never heard anything like it. In the video its kinda hard to hear but in real life it sounds so freaking good. The guy that recorded the fly by video said that i almost blew his ear drums haha, so yeah this is one of the few LOUD exhaust setups that still keeps a distinctive good sounding tone and not just random noise.
