Finally getting to the cam install

I've had my comp 270 cams since February and I'm finally fed up with staring at them in the box...

I have the cams, all new gaskets, seals and installation hardware. Comp beehive springs and retainers as well as adjustable crank gears for the timing..

My question is this. I'm running 19lb injectors. I have a set of new 47lb for future boost plans but will I be maxing out my 19lb injectors with the cams and my other mods?

Anything I need to know for the install to make sure the mechanic knows?

Also I've got a new SCT x4 and have a MPT tune on the way to me.. Once I get them installed I'm gonna have MPT make me another one for the cams and possibly the injectors if I need to..

It may be very close. I mean a good installer is going to check PTV regardless so you'll be ok, but like I said they may have to be degreed.

Frustration x2..

So back in May I dropped my car with a buddy who is AMAZING with performance installs and exhaust work.. But he was pretty backed up and it sat for a month at his shop before I picked it up from being tired of waiting.

Dropped my car off at a shop where I'm living now on Wednesday.. Told me they would start on it Thursday morning.. Checked with them today and at 4pm they still hadn't started..

Should I keep checking in daily or just attempt to be patient until it's done.

Problem is it's my daily and I feel like I'm 12 stuck at home and asking for rides lol

I think I'm more anxious because it's such a dramatic mod and I'll notice something different immediately. And I've got other parts at home I'm waiting to put on too

That sucks. I hate waiting. I would call them when they first open, tell them its already days past due and you woudlnt have dropped it off until Tuesday if they werent going to do it until then. And also that its your only means of transportation. Then call them again in the early afternoon, and again before close if its still not done. As the paying customer you have every right to check in.

I've actually decided to do cams myself while my new PI motor is out after talking to some guys who have been doing PI motors for a looooooong time. Going to do a good final leakdown test and then order some CMS 2.5 blower cams over the winter. Car will sound like an old school muscle car with damn near stock drivability and fully degreed and ready to go from Cushman.

So after the told me it would be done, this is what I walked into when I checked this afternoon before they closed Motor vehicle Vehicle Hood Car Engine

Haven't even put the cams in, still putting in the valve springs..

And to top it all off, when they were tearing it down they broke my intake manifold.. Did they pay for it? No I had to go buy one.

Day just gets better and better... I've been using my chevrolegs and lamborfeeties and I'm tired of it.

Didn't even try to take off your strut tower brace to remove your intake that's why broke I don't know about you but in my world if they broke it they bought it

And they're really working on your car without a mechanic skirt over it better double check for scratches and **** because I would have that ****

This is ridiculous. They need to absolutely pay for that intake. They need to order you a proper Ford Racing intake and replace it. Also give you a discount on top of that for them having your car for 3 times the amount they stated. I would lose my mind on those dudes. Taking too long is one thing if its quality work, but breaking a major component while doing the job is another. They need to take full responsibility for this and fix it right. This has me pissed and its not even my car!!

Feel for you bro...they should definitely do something for you if the are worth anything. If not then start putting they're name out there. Camp out one day and tell everyone that tries to go in about how they "take care of the customer" .

So as much as I would love to post a video of the loping idle, I can't.

I went by today and the first thing one of the shop employees said was man we have been slammed today but he's busting *** on your car..

And I'm sorry but if you have one performance guy you don't pull him off a big job to do some dinky ****..

So I went back to look at the progress and he was still changing the valve seals out on the passenger side..

Tuesday he told me he would be done on Wednesday. So here it is Thursday and he isn't very much further along than he was Wednesday evening..

With that being said I have never been more pissed off in my entire life. I dropped the car off last Wednesday. A cam swap is not a week long job.

This is my only vehicle, my way to work to pay my bills and feed my family. They know that so I would think they would take that into consideration.

They close at 5:30 so I'm going to call about 5:20 and tell them to do what ever they need to do to get this done by tomorrow because I have to have it to get to work and then drive 4 hours south to my hometown to see my daughter and family.

Also once I get it back I will be sure to let everyone I know how ****ty they are for this especially if they don't make it right for how long they have kept it and breaking my intake.

I'm well beyond pissed..

Just called them back and told them I needed it tomorrow. I told them that a worker told me Tuesday it would be done Wednesday.

I let them know once again that's my only means of transportation, I need to make a long drive tomorrow.

All he could say was well he still has to do the valve springs and seals on the passenger side and then put the cams in, timing components in and put it back together. So he's got a lot to do. I then replied with well it shouldn't take an entire day to put on sides valve springs and seals in like it did today. It should be a 2-3 day job at the most.

So he said they would try their best but no promises
