Just wondering if anyone has installed the ford racing hot rod cams in their mustang? I'm debating on wether or not to get them. If you have them I would like to hear what you think about them.
I think they are good for about 30 hp too. If your gonna cam your 3v your gonna need a cai for sure. And a tuneBlacks197 said:I know they sure sound sweet in the YouTube videos.
Well then your good to go. If your gonna do it yourself take lots of picsBlacks197 said:Got those both covered.
Who did you get your tune from for the cams? Did you do the install yourself?Southern stang said:No idea on power yet. Gonna wait and hit the rollers when long tubes go in. They sure sound good. Love them.
Ok thanks a lot! I had read a lot of people using Bama tune and also brenspeed so I was just curious who you went through. Again thanks for the info.Southern stang said:Right now I'm just running the tune bama gave me. Yes, I did the installation myself. No spring compressor was used either. If you have one at your disposal specifically for this 3v motor I would reccomend it but it was not a necessity. It took about 4 hours total, with removing my fathers old camaro and putting my car in and setting up some heat. That by itself was an hour and a half job. If you have some mechanical experience honestly it took just as long to remove the valve cover as it did to swap the cam. Just a heads up.
Be sure to post some pics if u do.Southern stang said:Not a problem at all man. I may do a 5.4 build soon on a stand and just slowly adding things to it for maybe a swap down the road.
I'm actually looking at getting a procharger possibly this week. I have drove forced induction and I'll take 500hp any way I can get it! I never planned on being NA forever.Alscobra said:You guys are killing me. Motor building should be left to machinists. IMO. Forced induction is easy and it works. You have drive a forced induction car to appreciate it. 500 hp natural asp is not the same as 500hp under boost. Gotta drive one to believe it.
Good question, not sure on that one. Glad I live in MissouriSickGT said:Looking to do these in the future but am wondering if they are California friendly...
