I am debating on keeping my 6 or upgrading to a 289. Who has modified a 6 and have you gotten any good horsepower gains? Are you able to achieve a good sound out of it? I am not looking for a race car here with huge horsepower. Just enough to get up and go a little
Depending on your head there can be many upgrades you can do. If the intake manifold is removable then look up something like "high performance inline 6" or something along the lines of that. There is a website with a bunch of high performance parts. If your head is just one piece then your screwed there isn't anything worth doing to get any power out of it.

I honestly probably will that is why I am going to start with the suspension and drive train converting over to parts that will handle the V8 then in a year or two if I decide to do it I can just drop in the motor and everything will already be done
That's what I have done to my car. I put disk brakes 8.8 in rear end stiffer suspension it's all ready for her new heart once I get enough money. If you have any questions I can try to answer them or if you need help finding parts

Do u know roughly how much all the parts costs you. Also any information on where to get all the right parts. Or maybe even a list of parts I would need would help. Thanks
Well mainly you just need to change to five lug because the 4lug diff won't be able to handle the power. So I got a 8.8 rear end and willwood disk brakes and put a brake booster in. You can have drums all the way around if you want it's just safer with disk if you change to disk with a brake booster you will also need to get a adjustable proportioning valve. Also if you have coil springs on the front you will need to get stiffer ones( the v8 ones) you will also probably need to get your driveshaft retubed. This will be a costly Change over. I spent 500 on a used rear end and a lot on my front brakes. I haven't changed my engine yet so I'm not sure how much it is for everything else. I got my rear end from a local shop called big d mustang the are located in the bay area and I got my brake booster from npd ( national parts depo ) they have everything for mustangs. I think it was 1g for it and 1g for my disk brake kit but I got the "high performance ones" there are many other kits out there for around 500 and you don't need a brake booster. I got my proportioning valve from summit racing.you will also need to make some
New brake lines it's pretty simple to make them you just need to get all the supplies and a tube bender which I recommend or you can bend them around a socket. Also you will need a double flanging tool to put the fittings on the end of the lines. Any more question feel free to ask them
Thanks for the info. Ill be thinking about where to start and I will definitely ask if I have more questions.
