what the hell is this noise????

It just started this weekend, sounds like its coming from the waterpump so I put a new one on and it still does the same thing. Ive been trying to locate it by sticking a long screwdriver on different parts of the front of the motor and listening through the screwdriver to see where the nose comes from, and the only place I hear it is when its right on the water pump, even the brand new one. I dont know what the noise could be, it gets louder when I push the clutch in and is a harmonic tapping/grinding noise that gets faster when the engine is revved. It doesnt sound like its coming from inside the motor, but rather in front of it by the accessories. Anyone have any clue what this might be? Ill go get a little video clip of it and see if the camera picks up the noise so you can see what im talking about. Its getting pretty frustrating really...

heres the video files (2mb)

huh?

usually when a timing chain starts acting up, is when its got a lot of slop in it, ive never seen one grind, never seen it get in the oil pump either, since the only opening for the oil pump is the pan pickup

it could very well be the timing chain

i just dont know then, the timing chainidnt really in close proximity to the oil pump, so the chavings had to get into the oil, flow back into the pan, then get picked up by the oil pickup, which could have been anything causing the shavings

thats a new one on me
