In the words of Dr. Frankenstein..."It LIVES!!!"

found my starting problem. Yesterday I took the starter out. Sounded like the gear wasn't being thrown out enough and grinding on the flywheel. Took it to the parts house and had it tested. Just fine. Inspected the flywheel. A bit of evidence of it rubbing on the face, but nothing bad. Even the starter gear looked fine. I discovered the problem when I went to start it for Jeremy for an exhaust sound clip that the battery was dead. Was trying to jump it.

Well after playing with it some and even trying to start it by jumping the solenoid, it was turning the fly wheel, but barely. So went back to Oreilly's and came back to the house with a new part.

Out with the old almost 4 year old battery

in with the new el cheapo 50 buck one...my favorites
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300020.jpg
one day ill fix my hold down method, but it has worked since Nov of 03.

here is a vid of it running, with a focus on the exhaust for you Jeremy. Didnt do much just a little bit of idle with a couple revs close to WOT
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300022.avi

Well the truck hadnt been started since I moved into the new place at the end of Oct of 06. It was jumped off, drove from one house to the other and parked...there it sat. So of course in my fit of joy, I steal some of Chris' top bolts since mine are missing, bolt my top down and take off
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300024.jpg

I hit up my buddies house and we took off.

Now before anyone says anything. Yes there is a construction site behind me. I did not enter it, and where I was at, was legit thanks to a buddy of mine. [/disclaimer]

flexed it out a little
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300025.jpg

had to go through this mudhole to get to where I was...
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/3...icture-751.jpg
it is amazing what 3 extra inches in tires will do for you, Chris was bottomed out in this pic.

then I started playing in the mud some

and since the guy taking pics was standing so far back, here is a closer one of the little mud pit with Chris' rig.
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/3...icture-747.jpg
When I was going through it wasn't as wide, but it was nice and deep and very thick.
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300026.jpg
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300027.jpg
and a vid of one of my passes...you can tell that mud was nice and cold
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300028.avi
here is another vid of us messing around and a couple little hills. I was coming down here, was trying to get a bit of air on them
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300032.avi
but doing all that I had a bit of a casualty, can you tell?
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300039.jpg

I guess I need to get out there and fix and finish my snorkel project I started that one hose clamp and sheet metal screw didnt hold it very well.

Ok that is all, just wanted to share my joy of finally driving it in almost half a year.

Re: In the words of Dr. Frankenstein..."It LIVES!!!"

well come on up, here is whats going on here.

Quote:

**Winter storm watch in effect Monday through Tuesday** One of the worst winter storms in years takes aim on the Ohio Valley. Mainly dry conditions during the daytime hours tomorrow, but at night heavy snow and ice develop from southwest to northeast. As some warm air aloft works into the metro area we could see sleet and possibly even freezing rain mix in late Monday night and early on Tuesday. The best chance for significant icing is from Bloomington to Bedford to Columbus. The areas that see all snow could end up with well over a foot. At this point the heavy snow band looks to set up just north of I-70. Winds will cause near blizzard conditions on Tuesday and falling temperatures by the end of the week will end up below zero. Donít be surprised if thunder and lightning is reported across parts of Indiana as the storm hits its peak. more...

I should have a truck either late this week or early next week, it's got 31's so I'll be the weak point in the expedition, but I'm up for it.

I am still rockin' 31s, but as soon as I get the money I am upgrading to 33 bfg muds, or Dunlop Radila muds, depends on my cash flow.

I already have a lift kit that I am happy with, and I am not chopping the fenders on my DD at this point.

Re: In the words of Dr. Frankenstein..."It LIVES!!!"

My problem with going any bigger is the engine won't turn them lol. The 2.9 is not known for it's torque. You can definitely tell the truck has 31's. But...I have weight over everyone and possibly over nate....

You may be a little less heavy than me, but the tourque my little I6 makes that up pretty well.

SrATEX 02-13-2007 06:18 PM

Re: In the words of Dr. Frankenstein..."It LIVES!!!"

If you up your tires...9 times out of 10 you will have to regear. That is why my truck no longer has the 3.55 gear ratio and now has a 4.56 ratio. imagine what it is like to go from turning 31s on a truck that was built with 29s to turning 36s....I had no torque.

cmon nate...flat fender that thing.

30 mph snow...wow fast snow hahaha

I wish we would get some snow like that. take the bronco out...hell it would give me a reason to drive it. cause I would have to drive it to get to work. no plows or salt truck and my little ranger dont like it when its wet in the traction department.

Re: In the words of Dr. Frankenstein..."It LIVES!!!"

I haven't seen snow like that since I went to colorado, and the only place the drifts were that tall was on the top of mountains. I swear...I could never live up there. I'd be playing in the snow for a week then miserable for 3 months.
