TLOK NEXT, BUT...

sooo im gonna get a tlok installed but i dont have enough money for a tlok and gears - ive already spent a lot re-doing my exhaust and what not.

Ford Racing 7.5" 28 Spline Traction - LOK Mustang Limited Slip Differential at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

so i want to get this tlok installed, i just want to know whether you guys think its worth doing just a tlok, or does it have to be a tlok and gears?

thanks!

Youll get the most bang if you wait and get gears too. You will also have to pay installation twice if you do it separately. Just buy the tloc and hold on to it till you got the money for the gears and install.

+1 that's what I'd do

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

i am hoping to do the same thing, but most everyone mentions the double install fees, so seems like best to do all at one time and get tuner also....

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

Yea, makes more sense... Will i still be able to notice an improvement with just a tlok?

No performance gains. Just fry two tires instead of one gain

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

anyone know if these r good gears? or would you recommend something else? ill buy the tlok, then gears, then ill save money to install them - who ever installs the gears has to re-program the speedometer right?

Rpm wise yes. Higher rpm on hwy. I know a lot of v6 owners that use 4.10s and love them. I use the highway alot so 3.73 Is too much for me.

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

Could it be bad for the car if i have 4.10 n use the hwy a lot? In the long run?

Higher rpm will make the engine work harder for a longer time. So yes in a way. Plus mpg will go down.

wereKEV 05-31-2011 09:33 AM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

yeah your mpg would go down quite a bit.

CHILE10_STANG 05-31-2011 09:59 AM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

than i will probably go with 3.73, plus... its still a big improvement from stock! no?

what if i have no way of reprogramming the speedometer? would i dyno do that?

kickerofdoom 05-31-2011 10:05 AM

It's 12 percent taller then our stock gears and that the same gears I'm getting I can tell you after I get them in install in about a week to see what the difference is on a auto

You can either change the gear in the tranny for about 20-30 bucks or you can buy a tuner for about 300-400 bucks

wereKEV 05-31-2011 10:09 AM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

gears cheaper tuner easier it's your choice.

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

is adjusting the speedometer a must after changing geaars?

CHILE10_STANG 05-31-2011 10:45 AM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

i was reading and stock gt gears r 3.27 so r they newer edge sn95's v6 gears... does that mean i have 3.27? sorry for the dumb question...

wereKEV 05-31-2011 10:46 AM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

you should I would think it would throw it off quite a bit.

kickerofdoom 05-31-2011 11:03 AM

You have 3.27 gears

kickerofdoom 05-31-2011 11:19 AM

SpectorV 05-31-2011 11:24 AM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

I would wait until you can afford both, its the same basic install for both so just save a little longer

CHILE10_STANG 05-31-2011 11:25 AM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

im just gonna buy one then the other - and have them installed at the same time... im just trying to figure out the "adjusting the speedometer" part

Texastboneking 05-31-2011 11:32 AM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

Speedometer Gear, Speedometer Gears, Ford, GM, Dodge 700R4
speedo gears for all makes and models

SpectorV 05-31-2011 12:35 PM

Re: TLOK NEXT, BUT...

you either adjust the speedometer by a tune or by a speedcal unit. 99+ V6 cant use speedo gears they are digital.
