Everybody loves new play toys.

Well went to the gun show at the shriners place today. Got to put my C&R to good use. Found a couple rifles I liked. Ended up spending about 300 today. It was nice, found what I wanted and handed them my C&R and the money walked away. No calling in for background checks etc. Took the annoyance out of buying weapons away from it. Now that only annoyance is spending the money.

Here is what I got.

Top one (darker stock) is a Russian Mosin Nagant M91/30 7.62x54 manufactured in 1943. Light Stock is a Turkish Mauser M24 in 8mm Mauser manufactured in 1942. Overall I am very happy with the choices. I have been reading the Turkish Mausers arent the best, but for an occasional range rifle it will do good. Very long rifles, and quite heavy in comparison to the AR-15 and .22. Only thing I didnt like was we went by Dicks to check out 8mm Mauser ammo, 20 for 25 bucks...more expensive then .223. Guess it is getting time to invest with a buddy in reloading equipment.

And here is my collection. It is growing a bit more now...but I am through for awhile. Too many other things needed and that was my "allowance."

Marlin .22 Magnum
M92/30
Beretta Cougar .40
Turk Mauser
Bushmaster AR-15 (yes I got it back...for a bit less then I was given for it)

I got the Nagant for 160. Little high IMO compared to some places, expecially since it didnt come with the sling and accesorry pouches like a lot do for a bit lower, but it was local and I didnt have to wait on shipping, (at least now they come to my house instead of a FFL) and besides needing a good cleaning, pretty good rifling in the barrel, a bit of pitting (rifle is 64 years old and they did use corrosive ammo in it) But it is deffinantly a shooters grade rifle. In fact I got the Turk Mauser for 160 also. Next I will be looking for a British Enfield.

AR is full Bushmaster, upper and lower.

dont need to make it, you can buy it like that. You can find them with original scope on it.

That one is 650 bucks. but I have seen them for 300-400 also.

What I want is a M1903-A3...preferably a Springfield but will settle with a Remington, but those run from 900-1000ish. Like most American rifles. They are the more sought after being American.

Very cool.

Same with having a carry permit in Iowa, I can walk in buy it and walk out, no need to have it called in :) All the background checks have already been done.
