What type of welding do you do? Will you use a tig or mig? And are you used to welding thinner gauge steel? Chances are you will use bondo or "all metal" there is nothing wrong with that either. Unless you plan on taking it to a shop that specializes in metal work and want to pay a fortune there will be bondo. why don't you want to use it?
If you are sectioning the lower parts of the quarters you will need to mig weld the seam together grind the weld smooth and use some filler to get it flat. Be careful not to apply to much heat when welding or grinding so you don't warp the panel. If you need more help feel free to ask
