Just Bought an SVT! Need help
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I just bought an 01 SVT. It has an o/r X pipe, Bassani exhaust, UDP's, BBK duel 65mm TB, K&N CAI, Lowered on Eibach Springs, Center-force Dual-Friction Clutch, a Hurst Shifter, and 4.10 gears.

It's great so far, needs a tune, but It runs amazing.

The Only issue I really have, and it concerns me... is a sound coming from the rear end. It' s not a gear whine... but sounds more like a grinding noise. It's really quiet and almost unnoticeable, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and knows of a cure? Or if maybe it's just me being paranoid about a new car...

Thank you.

Welcome, nice Cobra. I'm not sure about your noise, but hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on your rear end noise.

Is it a bearing noise? You say coming from the rear end, is it in the gear box or in the wheels?

Not sure... It almost sounds like it's coming from the gears... but it's really hard to tell for sure. It gets worse at highway speeds, but it's still very quiet. I'm probably just paranoid. The clutch, throw-out, and pilot bearing were all replaced last year... so I doubt it's a trans issue... If this Bassani exhaust wasn't so damn loud maybe it would be easier to tell, lol.

Does it change under acceleration or when changing lanes in either direction? Or is the exhaust too overwhelming to tell haha

Re: Just Bought an SVT! Need help
It's only when car is moving... If I press the clutch in, it still makes the noise as long as the car is moving... The exhaust makes it hard to tell where it's coming from though... I'm gonna swap the xpipe out for a prochamber here soon, but until then I want to figure out the little things this car may need fixed... This noise makes me wonder if maybe the pinion bearing is bad or something.
