Cai and tuner?

What are your recommendations for CAI and tuner?

GrabberBlue5.0 07-24-2012 10:24 PM

Yea threads fall off after so long a time of inactivity, check you tb thread for tuners... CAI is a waste with your current mods or most any bolt ons really, unless you like the looks and sound I say spend your 3-400 on something else

86custom 07-24-2012 11:09 PM

Yeah grabber blue is right about the CAI. I'd just get a high flow drop in filter and get an catless xpipe with the tuner. I like my C&L cai just because of looks and sound.

bluemonster13 07-24-2012 11:11 PM

Thanks for the advice! :)

K&n has been proven to rob you of horsepower compared to the oem filter, where CAI has shown gains, let's not get into the whole air reading or open hood thing either -_-

Oh okay sry for misleading. Well if he has the money to get a CAI guess it'll be worth a few hp at least with the tune.

B4 you get a tune or cai get exhaust parts first so when you Get the tune you experience huge difference rather then small.

bluemonster13 07-25-2012 11:11 AM

It's a 2013 gt

Since I'm also starting to look at this, any recommendations for a better drop-in filter? I get that with no mods, or only minor ones a CAI is simply eye candy (not a bad thing in itself).

GrabberBlue5.0 07-25-2012 11:43 AM

bluemonster13 07-25-2012 11:53 AM

I probably will within the next day or two. :)

GrabberBlue5.0 07-25-2012 11:58 AM

Airraid or Steeda hands down. The Mass Air Flow readings on those is the best. There is a HUGEEE thread on MAF readings on modularfords.com. As for the tune cant go wrong with Bama. Ran a 12.1 with mine on radials 12.3 on streets. No complaints there!!!

How does JLT compare to either of these? I have heard good things and the price doesn't seem bad. Any opinions?

I have the JLT CAI. According to the results it has the worst MAF reading. Iv had some issues with it with bogging and other stuff. I would def do with the Steeda or the Airraid. They are put together ALOT nicer. Only reason i have the JLT is cause its painted and im a fruit LOL

Nfreeman40 07-25-2012 04:31 PM

I have a 2010 V6 and just ordered a BAMA tuner from AM and a CAI from C&L. I Is Excited! I'm Also scheduled to get a custom Xpipe with long tube headers! Haven't decided on mufflers yet.. My incentive bonus from work could not of come at a better time :)

I wonder if I'll be around the same. I'll have the air raid CAI and borla s type catback exhaust with Bama tune.

Re: Cai and tuner?

still have cats? and i dont know how close we will be to a actual custom dyno tune. luckily enough for me there has been a dyno floating around at the car shows around here. im hoping to get on it saturday to get base like numbers then hope to either run into him at another show or bring my stuff along with some jackstands and a jack and throw it on at the show then dyno it again haha

bluemonster13 07-26-2012 06:44 PM

Does your friend like his Steeda, thats what I have been looking at. Its expensive, but seems to have the most gains.

bluemonster13 07-26-2012 06:54 PM

I was either either goons get steeda or air raid but obviously decided on air raid.

GrabberBlue5.0 07-26-2012 07:05 PM

I had a steeda with my stock intake Mani, awesome piece of equipment, fit and finish is amazing and looks great, well worth the money
