How to paint your wheels

Make sure you use heat resistant paint. also, it would be to your advantage to use wheel paint. No red wheel paint was available, so I just used engine enamel.
also, allow at least a good 20 minutes for every coat of paint to dry

step 1- jack the car and make sure your e brake is on
step 2 -take off the wheels. and wet sand them with fine sand paper
step 3 - "sunflower" the wheels with a deck of cards
step 4 - apply 1 coat of primer, and allow it to dry
step 5 - if you are doing a single colored wheel jump to step 9
step 6 - if you're doing multiple colored wheels, tape up the part that you don't want painted
step 7 - apply 2-3 coats of paint
step 8 - tape up the parts you don't want painted
step 9 - apply 2-3 coats of the other paint
step 10 - apply 2-3 coats of clearcoat (for protection)
step 11- apply 1 coat of gloss
step 12 - put the wheel back on, when tightening the lugs, tighten them in a star pattern.
step 13- look badass (optional, but preferred)

This is awesome...i May just do the same. How is the like shine on the rims, and how is cleaning them, any paint chipping yet?

Blown347 09-19-2012 12:58 PM

I may do this as well, but like this there is no chipping?
