Alright so I've decided my next purchase on my list is gonna be my exhaust (want a better sound than the factory exhaust). Because of budget issues, I plan on purchasing mufflers and tips at the moment and than purchasing the mid pipe and catbacks later on (Hopefully soon). I've watched a fair amount of YouTube videos on exhaust clips but still can't come to a conclusion on which one I want or sounds the best. I figured I'd get your guys opinions and thoughts of which set up I should do. The 3 I've been looking at are Magnaflow, Bassani and Borla.

Mile high JDF 07-15-2013 10:20 PM

My vote is Borla Stingers or Magnaflow Magnapacks. I love my Magnaflow mufflers (non Magnapacks). There's an O/R H for sale on craigslist for $50 on craigslist. It's off a 99 Cobra so I'm not 100% sure it fits.

Count Dragula 07-15-2013 10:23 PM

With the stock mid pipe you CAN NOT go wrong with slp lm1. To me it is really deep and louder than any other cat back

That's a good question. If it does that's a good price! Ill look and see if there are others too. I haven't really heard the Borlas, but I heard they sound really good.

Do midpipe now, and save up for catback

Do you know how much It would cost for a new midpipe?

MidnightBlueGT 07-16-2013 12:53 AM

Depends what brand you choose and if you go h or x and catted or off road. Just check on americanmuscle.com

Alright will do. Thanks

Venomouz831 07-16-2013 01:24 AM

Get an offroad one, cheaper and louder

MidnightBlueGT 07-16-2013 01:30 AM

Just keep the stock mid to swap for inspection

I would have gotten some Stingers if I hadn't gotten a hell of a deal on my current setup

Torchred2010gt 07-16-2013 08:11 AM

Save up and get everything at once.but get magnapacks with o/r bassani or Mac x pipe.or get borla stingers with upr or bassani offroad.

MidnightBlueGT 07-16-2013 11:34 AM

I got the bassani off road x and love it.

robb15033 07-16-2013 11:47 AM

BORLA all the way.
There are several types of X pipes, merge pipes, ProChamber, and of course an H pipe

MidnightBlueGT 07-16-2013 12:08 PM

Borla or bassani have my vote.

robb15033 07-16-2013 12:35 PM

SLP PowerFlo mufflers are designed much like Borla Stingers, FYI
ALSO- I, personally love the Borla tips, but that's usually a love it or hate it thing.
SLP tips are sweet A$$ tips.

Alright guys. I'm planning on purchasing my mufflers/tips and mid pipe this weekend and getting them installed next week. I still don't know what to get. Borla mufflers/tips, Magna pack mufflers/borla tips, Bassani mufflers/tips, or Magna pack mufflers/Bassani tips. Also probably gonna get an off-road h pipe. Thoughts? Opinions? Any good places to purchase these items?

If you want loud, go borla or magnapacks. If you just want good tone, borla or bassani cant be beat imo. I have bassani and its music to my ears, it has drone thats actually enjoyable around 2100-2300 rpms. Its still decently loud, just not as loud as borla/magnapacks. Never heard it with an o/r H pipe though. Borla tips ftw too

1lowGT 07-25-2013 12:28 PM

What exactly do you want it to sound like?

Like a deep rumble, more drone at low Rpms and a lot louder at higher Rpms. Nothing too raspy

1lowGT 07-25-2013 12:39 PM

I don't recommend flowmaster but they are the king of drone. And they aren't loud at wot unless you get and o/r midpipe with 40s or 10s.

Yeah I'm not a fan of flow masters. I just haven't really heard what the bassani or borla setups sound like. I also don't know how those different set ups and combos I listed would sound.

1lowGT 07-25-2013 01:14 PM

I heard a procharged gt with flowmasters stock manifolds and stock midpipe he just said flows i assume its 10s cuz it was pretty loud and I've had 44s before and they didnt sound near like his. You cant go wrong with borla or bassani there is a reason why they are expensive they are best quality.

I think I've decided that I'm gonna go with one of the two. I just can't decide which. Do you think I should go with all of one brand? Like Bassani mufflers with Bassani tips, Borla mufflers with borla tips or should I mix them? Like Bassani with borla tips or vise versa.

1lowGT 07-25-2013 01:23 PM

Whatever you like the best if you like the sound of one over the other then get that muffler if you like the tips better than the other then get those, just get what you like best. Are you just getting mufflers and welding them in? Or buying a cat back?

For now (budget issues) I'm just gonna get the mufflers/tips and maybe a midpipe if I can find one for a good price.

Count Dragula 07-25-2013 02:53 PM

Hell do a catted midpipe with slp lm1. Its not raspy and its deep as hell. Thats my favorite exhaust ever

Looking at these 2.. A little pricey for me right now. Debating whether its worth it or not lol.

MidnightBlueGT 07-25-2013 10:59 PM

Love the bassanis man. Wont regret it. But if uour really on a budget id just get slp's and spend the extra $ on other mods

If you want Stingers then busy them off Amazon. They're only $590 on there.

02GTvert 07-26-2013 01:41 AM

I have stingers with magnaflow o/r x. Very deep drone 2000ish to 2400ish pleasant not extremely loud but can be heard. I don't hear the rasp as much as everyone says only on a down shift or a long up shift again it doesnt sound bad to me. Also got my stingers from AM when they were 590..thank god I got them when I did. I had stingers with stock h for a while and at idle the sound was almost identical besides a very little throaty sound with the x but at WOT you'll wake the dead. With the o/r h..or go long tubes and h would be a BA setup. $$$$$$ though. On a side note, stingers are arguably the best flowing muffler out. ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN STOCK!

I think I'm gonna order the Borla Stingers s-type catback off Amazon ($517) and keep with the stock midpipe for now.. until I can afford one. Hopefully it will sound a lot better. Thanks for the info man

You will not be disappointed, my friend. And when you get a mid pipe you will grin ear to ear. Oh and make sure whoever puts it on that it clears the upper control arms..mine rattles against one, it can be maneuvered to fit. Good luck and enjoy!
