4.10 supercharged

Can I run 4.10s with a twin screw in an auto? What else would u need suspension wise?

Lets assume Forged internals going in later

MidnightBlueGT 09-06-2013 01:38 AM

Yes. But wont have much of first gear. If not forged yet just keep it low boost and suspension should be good, id throw some subframes on too

You can but you'll be going through tires like crazy! If your going twin screw I'd go with a 3.73 and a torque converter! What suspension mods do you have now?

1lowGT 09-06-2013 10:10 AM

yeah you'll go through tires and wont have much of first gear since when you stomp on it you ll spin so much

KoolPwny 09-06-2013 10:29 AM

I have no suspension work yet. Ok maybe not a twin screw lol. What about with a centri blower? Like a vortech or procharger?

So I'm adding subframe connectors to my list of anticipatory mods

I thought the 4.10 n twin screw would have been ok since the auto eats up so much hp.

If I were to roll on drag radials as a DD they would still stick without having to do a burnout everywhere right? Lol

1lowGT 09-06-2013 10:39 AM

The tires should hook pretty good if you're cruising they should be warm enough to hook if you get a good brand. I would build your suspension first if you plan on going to the track then get into FI

KoolPwny 09-06-2013 10:44 AM

Well I don't plan on taking my car to the track. I've never seen one let alone raced in one. N I don't drive like a dbag on street either.

Just want to what f/I would work with my auto n 4.10s. Cuz all the info out there is for 5 speeds.

I'm building my car to be a beast from light to light. I do about 99% city driving and rarely jump on the highway.

Will tranny work be needed?
04 got a better tranny than the 4r70w

1lowGT 09-06-2013 10:47 AM

Even on the street some suspension would be great. With stock internals you shouldn't run too much boost rods and piston are junk at around 450hp so be aware of that . and if you run DRs be cautious in the rain

Go 4.10s, j mod the tranny with a nice stall and turbo that *****! Suspension would be wise also.

1lowGT 09-06-2013 10:49 AM

Did you just tell him to get 4.10s and a turbo??

KoolPwny 09-06-2013 10:52 AM

Lmao! Is the turbo a worse idea than the s/c???

Yuuup! He said he doesnt do much hwy driving and doesn't plan on visiting a track. Unless i read that wrong, whats the problem?

1lowGT 09-06-2013 10:57 AM

No. Turbos require time to spool and build boost, during that time with 4.10s you will be going through a full gear before you can even get into boost. So when go towards a turbo recommended gear is anything from 3.27s, 3.31s, some go with 3.55s any more than 3.55 will not work good with turbo. Now with superchargers they have instant boost and with 4.10s your first gear will be useless at wot. So 3.73 with SC. 4.10 with turbo is a big no no

Hmm, I get what you're saying but ive seen a gt with 4.10s stalled built tranny and turbo destroy everything its came across from light to light

1lowGT 09-06-2013 11:06 AM

Okay term turbo lag - the time you step on the gas until the time you hit boost. Turbo is not instant power it takes time(turbo lag) to build boost and with 4.10s you will run out of rpms in a gear before you hit boost(f*cking power) so with 3.27 gears and turbo set up you have more time in between gears to build boost and make power. The best way to understand this is get in a diesel truck obviously with a turbo, and get in 4th gear at 1-1.5k rpms (remember they only go to 4k rpms) and stomp on it and you wont move very much until the turbo starts building and then when it builds you'll take the hell off.

This i know..

KoolPwny 09-06-2013 11:32 AM

I thought the 4.10 gear ratio would put my automatic in a "good place" for a supercharger since there is a 20% drivetrain loss right off the bat. Is this incorrect?

And if my first gear would be useless, is it really that bad since my shift are set for me through my BAMA tune?

McNassty 09-06-2013 11:37 AM

I would go with 3.55's S/C or T/C, it's a good middle gear

Venomouz831 09-06-2013 11:39 AM

4.10 and a blower is like heaven! My friend has them on his termi and god they rock

KoolPwny 09-06-2013 12:10 PM

I meant like it shifts for me (obviously lol) so would the no first gear be that big of a deal?

1lowGT 09-06-2013 12:16 PM

Well it's not like your first gear is gonna disappear so I'd just get 3.73s and be safe

Venomouz831 09-06-2013 12:29 PM

Forgot you're auto... Maybe a lower gear then. Fees great on my friends because he's got a 6 spd

KoolPwny 09-06-2013 12:33 PM

Well I'm asking about 4.10s cuz that's what I already have, and I'm exploring my options while sticking with what u have

Venomouz831 09-06-2013 12:35 PM

I can't really help you out on that because I don't know anyone or have experienced a blower on an auto. On a manual it's great but that's all i can say

Full suspension , and built rear end with slicks
And you go yourself a 10 sec ride with that setup

So my goals are realistic than? Not doing this build with mpg or cost in mind btw. I'm going with best n the most reliable DD setup

But there are too many autos that have done this stuff :-/

1lowGT 09-06-2013 05:14 PM

Hope you have another car to drive while your car is getting this installed

KoolPwny 09-06-2013 05:19 PM

It's gonna be over time of course lol

If your going for a DD setup just throw a good set of lowering springs on , the sc , and call it a day!

My 04 GT has an 4R75W auto with custom valve body tci deep sump pan removed wave plate and additional clutch plates added to firm up shifts and support 900-1000 ftlb of torque. I also run a precision industries 3200 rpm stall converter with a 4:10 rear. I have around 17 lbs of boost making just over 550rwhp on pump gas. I will say I have busted New Z06 vettes *** and 2 Shelby GT500's 0-130 from a dig. There is not much from a street light that can hang. It is an awesome set up go for it

Finally!! Someone with the setup I have/want! Are you running on stick internals?
Ur ride sounds sick as f :thumb:

MidnightBlueGT 09-06-2013 11:15 PM

550rwhp on stock internals?? Noooooo man he isn't.

KoolPwny 09-06-2013 11:16 PM

Lol I figured hahaha just making sure . It does sound good tho

MidnightBlueGT 09-06-2013 11:27 PM

I wish our stockers could handle that! Just 450 is playing with fire though, some can blow at 500 some can blow at 425. Id keep er around 400 on stock internals.

Mzilla 09-07-2013 09:42 AM

I have a 20 over teksid block Kellogg crank Eagle H beam Ross and JE pistons. My stock block I was running at 440rwhp and one day a valve spring broke and dropped a valve. I think i ran it lean with my GT fuel tank around a corner low on fuel.
